below is a copy of my draft Personal statement but would like you guys to read it and let me know where i should change in order to make it good enough for consideration into the program.
The hunger for something more has always been one of the greatest drivers in my life, from learning new languages and cultures, playing my first song on the guitar and violin to planting my first garden way back in the nineties. The joy that comes from seeing your first seedlings sprouting out of the ground gives you the yearning to actually see what will come out of them, what flowers will emerge, what will they look like? They say one can grow hungry for knowledge as for food and this yearning led me to finance which was always my lifelong career dream in waiting. I have always been looking for a program that was tailored to fulfill my career goals.
Growing up, I was always entrusted with matters concerning money both at home and school thus I became a mini-financial advisor/bank unconsciously, giving advice to friends and family and helping them with money matters. Being a good mathematician, I was sure which direction I had to take but had not yet pin pointed the area of interest and so choosing a college degree became quite the journey. Choosing Accounting for my first degree was the moment everything changed, for it is during one of these lectures that i finally realized which direction I wanted to take. Financial analysis is what got my fingers twitching the most, I needed to know more. "How did they come up with this or that or the other?" I always asked myself and this is where I came to a decision to pursue Financial Analysis in the future. Since then, I have always been looking for a program that is tailored to the kind of career I want to build.
As I continue advancing my career in the field of finance, I hope to get involved in educating more individuals in the financial areas that affect them directly; taking back knowledge I have learnt and practiced to individuals in areas of need is my way of giving back to the society. Many people have failed to make a difference in their financial lives because of lack of proper and accurate information; so helping them to get a grip of how it's supposed to be done would give me great satisfaction.
Hoping to carry out some personal investments in the future, I am even hungrier to learn and master the basics, begin practicing so I can gain experience in the area and be able to apply these different principles in my own business. Being able to help people make great decisions is good but what would even be greater is the ability to actually practice those ideas yourself and learn first-hand.
Diversification is one of the bases for knowledge; coming from a different financial background, the ideas I bring to the classroom will defer from those of the other students and this is ground for learning. The different ideas brought at the table by the different individuals indicates a higher chance of learning something new each time minds come together.
I am looking forward to finally quenching my hunger; but also be able to practice something I have longed for a long time and getting into a program tailored to meet those particular areas of interest in my
