Dear Consular Officer,
My name is Mana, and I have been accepted to study for a master's degree in MEng-Civil Engineering at the University of Windsor. I am writing to your visa committee to apply for a residence permit in Canada.
·My educational and professional background:
I am currently completing the last semester of my master's degree in Building and Architectural Engineering from the University of Politecnico di Milano, Lecco. By studying and getting the MEng-Civil degree at the University of Windsor, I hope to successfully achieve my goals and pave my future career path. I was lucky enough to start studying in a field closest to my Interests and abilities, and it made my passion and desire to learn and leads to earning the highest grade in the University among my classmates at bachelor and getting admission without entrance exam to post-graduate school in one of the universities in Iran. However, before starting my post-graduate studies, I researched widely towards the future of my career and concluded that I should do my best to reach a stronger academic position to achieve the desired result. But this possibility, unfortunately, did not exist in Iran.
While learning English, I joined an architecture company as an intern immediately after completing my bachelor's degree and temporarily began my work experience. I was finally officially hired by a reputable architecture company, and to this day, I have not lost contact with it. This experience lasted for almost two years and gave me many opportunities for scientific growth, and strengthened my decision to continue my education. Through intimate knowledge and understanding of the Iranian labor market and the need to upgrade experience in areas where there was a lack of up-to-date research and achievement, I intensely decided to continue my education. I also consulted with the office manager and colleagues, and based on my recent interests and activities, I chose the field of construction, which brings a more comprehensive mastery that included architecture, structure, management, and landscape.
·The reasons I am not pursuing a similar program in my country of residence or of citizenship:
Since my goal was to build a successful working and scientific future in construction, I did a thorough initial survey of studying in Iran and, for solid reasons, did not find studying there compatible with addressing my concerns and matching my educational goals. My first reason was the shared experiences of my peers and myself during my undergraduate studies, in which I realized that the amount of time and money spent studying was not acceptable compared to the value of the degree and the academic level achieved. Besides, In that case, my experiences would be limited to the national perspectives, and I did not have the opportunity to learn new standards and achievements from top-ranked universities, which led to my lack of motivation during my studies. To dominate language and communication skills, being in an international environment would be a better option. Besides, the current online university classes system in Iran is not well-formed and is facing many problems. Since my father is a lecturer at some universities in Tehran, I am closely aware of higher education difficulties in this period, which would not achieve high scientific knowledge.
·Why MEng-Civil Engineering program?
The first and foremost reason for choosing this field was to complete my construction specialization and gain a robust structural understanding supporting architectural design. In the first steps of education and research, the names of great architects such as "Santiago Calatrava" inspired us to learn that the most remarkable and most successful people in this field had a solid structural understanding and high architectural creativity together. For me, this path is much more embodied than continuing to study architecture until my doctorate and entering the field of academic research. Besides, construction in my country will be the first and most important priority of working and professional life.
I was forced to enter the structural design section in various academic and work projects, and due to the lack of sufficient knowledge, I had to read multiple books in this field. And in this way, I received a lot of guidance and advice from civil engineering experts. This knowledge has never been completed with all my research, and I feel the basic need for academic learning and understanding of the new mechanisms in this field, which is still young in our country and needs to acquire more advanced knowledge.
·Why Canada? Why Windsor?
The educational institution's location is one of the most important factors in choosing a university. Given Canada's growing reputation in the field of engineering and industry, as well as the existence of standard universities with a high-quality education system, along with favorable living conditions, and with about 20 universities world-ranked under 500, this choice will be the best opportunity for me to exchange information and cultural views with different nationalities. The building as a social environment requires a high level of social understanding and psychology to design an optimal living environment, and the designer cannot provide an ideal ambiance for a wide range of people with a limited perspective.
The University where I was successfully accepted is Windsor, one of the oldest and most well-known universities in the engineering field. I had correspondence and consultations with university officials in recent times, which gave me the desired assurance and precise planning for my studies' duration. Among the universities I investigating during this period, I found the most suitable study program under my goals in this University, and now I am looking forward to starting this path.
·My educational goals:
In all honesty, I am a hard-working and ambitious person, and I have been clinging to my goal all this time. I will do my best to build the future that I have in mind. The central part of this goal is to complete the technical information to make and fulfill the sciences and courses that I have taken in previous sections. I will put all my energy and potency into reaching the primary designer position in a reputable engineering company with the suitable characteristics and platform for teamwork and success in outstanding construction projects, and I will pass this stage successfully.
·Ties to Iran:
My professional and job plan is the main reason I will return to Iran; my professional and career plan will be the main reason for my return to Iran. Because of the city where my family lives, Tehran, if I have the right job skills, there is the highest growth rate of modern construction and civil projects, and according to my experiences during my work, such an environment provides the greatest possibility of mutual growth. I currently have a job offer from Haft Bana Company that outlines my post-graduation plans, and I have set a clear path for my future in this work.
Besides, I do not have any family members or friends in Canada, and living permanently in an unfamiliar culture and environment without any family will never be acceptable to me as an emotional person. I am the only family member who has a lot of dynamic interdependence with my mother because she lives alone since she got divorced and has no siblings. My responsibility to her is so essential that it does not allow me to be permanently separated from her. My father is married and lives with my little brother, and it is inconceivable to me that my mother will live alone for the rest of her life and I will not be with her.
·Financial issues related to the period of study
After contacting the University and reviewing the projected costs of my partner and me, we have considered the possibility of fully covering our costs for this period. The main sponsors are my parents and my partner's mother, who have a constant income. My parents have a monthly job income, two rented houses, and savings for me and my brother's future studies. Also, Fazel's mother is retired and owns a rented house where Fazel used to live when he was in Iran, and now he owns the rental income and the stock market accounts.
Further to them, considering the monthly profit from the investment of Fazel in Iran and my savings from working in Iran, we will not have the slightest problem in this field. All documents in the field of cash and non-cash assets (movable and immovable property) of our families are provided.
·Flight itinerary and schedule of main planned activities in Canada
According to the University, the exact start date of my classes is September 10. Therefore, our main plan to move to Canada is to book a flight for September 1 to complete the university registration in about ten days. To book temporary accommodation, we will book a hotel in Windsor until we choose the housing we want to stay there.
My partner and I look forward to starting new experiences and the next achievements of our life during our stay in Canada and getting acquainted with its advanced and international atmosphere. I hope that all the details provided will state to you my ambition to study at Windsor University.
Finally, I appreciate your attention to my Visa application.
Yours Sincerely,
My name is Mana, and I have been accepted to study for a master's degree in MEng-Civil Engineering at the University of Windsor. I am writing to your visa committee to apply for a residence permit in Canada.
