Dear All,
Need some clarifications ...
Can we say I am at the level 4 (4th floor) or I am on the 4th floor ?
Im sitting on the chair / I am sitting in the stool...
I am on mc or in mc / I am on holiday or in Holiday.
different preposition usages in American and British English
some prepositions rule confusing me and my student confused me.
Just to clear the doubt.
Tq and good day.
Regards
Isai
In my opinion, this is how it is said in the American language:
- I am on the 4th floor
- I am sitting on the chair
I am not so sure about this but this is how I interpreted it:
- I am on holiday (leave).
Thanks for your immediate prompt.
Regards
I would use this word: fourth
I think that is most formal and visually appealing.
If you say level 4 the reader might not understand.
I am sitting in a chair.
I am sitting on a chair.
I am sitting on a stool.
All of the above are okay.
But this is not okay:
I am sitting in the stool.
I am on mc or in mc /
I am on holiday or in Holiday. I am on holiday.
I don't know what mc means!! :-)
Greetings !
MC means Medical Certificate.
TQ Kevin
Oh... I guess the proper preposition to use is "on" with medical certificate.
:-)
I am at the level 4 (4th floor) or I am on the 4th floor ? i prefer the red one.
Im sitting onin the chair / I am sitting inon the stool...
I am on mc or in mc / I am on holiday or in Holiday.
hmm... i think it's better for you to learn and understand preposition :)

If i say I sitting on my laptop is that ok
or I sitting beside my laptop
If you say you are sitting on your laptop, it means you are crushing your laptop with your butt lol,
beside your laptop, means you are next to your laptop
but does anyone know when to use in and at?
