ESSAY #1: In an essay of 300 words or less, please discuss your academic interests and/or professional goals.
Please do criticize my essay hard. I am an international student and really lack experiences writting such an essay. Thank you.
Major/Topic:Computer Engineering
Living in such a time, through 20 and 21 century, I clearly saw the changes happen to my life everyday due to innovations in technology; living such a life, moving from China to America, I certainly understand the tremendous benefits we can get from new and advanced technologies.
No one can deny that those technological leaps made in the past decades are very mostly contributed by the development of computer science and engineering. Nowadays, those advantages we got cover every field of what we live on, and it is spreading rapidly to every tiny corner of the world. I got my first personal computer 6years ago and I have ever since been so fascinated by what can we do with them and what can they do for us. This feeling got stronger when I took the computer science classes and engineering classes, in which I was totally impressed by computer's speed and accuracy. What I consider to be the most potential and significant in computer engineering is the human-computer integration and that is also what my professional goal is. I have always dreamed that one day people can communicate with computers just as we talk to each other every day; I have always dreamed that one day people can somehow physically unite with some kind of computer without losing our humanity so we can take the advantages of computers and simultaneously keep what virtue we have naturally. Being a computer science student will offer me the chance to make efforts to let my dreams come true, and I certainly will devote my life to them to make it happen. My ideas maybe seemingly preposterous today just as the science fiction movies are, but strong evidences in the long history have taught us that today's dream will be tomorrow's actuality.
