Undergraduate / Intellectual Freedom, Columbia Short Essay [3]

Hi,

Need comment for the following short Columbia Essay, 600 characters

Essay # 1: Please tell us what you find most appealing about Columbia and why.

Intellectual Freedom to transcend my dreams, Columbia University's defining Core Curriculum will permit me to have a perspective on a plethora of studies from Nobel Laureate Professors. However, to me, location has a tremendous impact on my learning and being in a cosmopolitan setting reveals an entire microcosm of the world. This global university and its goal to enhance worldwide relations truly intertwine with my visions for world change, especially between China and the US. The certainty that I can have a dynamic and educational study abroad program in Shanghai or Beijing truly magnetizes my desire to have my education at Columbia University.

thanks a lot!

"Life is but a dream." It is meaningful and unimaginable. Seventeen years and I have blossomed from a cute, precious little toddler into a young man with infinite dreams, some still from my childhood fantasies, some more realistic. Fortunately, during this intimate journey, I have experienced many unique activities that profoundly shaped my life. Just as a catalyst can stimulate a reaction, my love for competition and my desire to make an impact on society have precipitated me to choose business at Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU).

For the New Yorker essay, I think you can shorten the first sentence to a title say, " A day with Robert Oppenheimer"
For the last sentence, you can shorten it to "I would use this opportunity to understand how the human mind works, as well as receive some experience in counseling during my attempt to help him understand why his actions and opinions were contradictory.

My father just finished his graduate degree a few years ago when my brother and I were still young. He always told us that to finish you master or PH D degree as early as possible. As life goes on, your share of burden will increase and your intelligence will decrease.
