Undergraduate / 'quality is learning' - Florida State Admissions Essay [2]
Florida State University is more than just a world-class academic institution preparing you for a future career. We are a caring community of well-rounded individuals who embrace leadership, learning, service, and global awareness. With this in mind, which of these characteristics appeal most to you and why?
Rough Draft!
When you imagine a well-rounded individual what qualities would that person have? There are numerous key characteristics found in a well-rounded individual but one quality stands out further to me than the rest. This particular quality is learning. Learning is the most appealing quality to me because people never stop learning; there are always new things to learn in the world and I think it's important that one embraces the chance to learn something new every day. Having knowledge is having the power to accomplish something and make a difference.
I started an internship at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in early September, late August. I arrived there having never worked with wild animals in my life. My first day there I had to learn an ample amount of knowledge from the Jennifer and Tyler, the two kind-hearted women who guided me through aiding in the care of the wildlife there. After working there for a few weeks, I thought I had the majority of my tasks down pat, but I was in the wrong. Even after doing the same tasks multiple times I still had things I needed to learn. For example, when it came to chopping up the food for the deer there, I was taught new ways of how to chop sweet potatoes, apples, pears, zucchini, and more. Even after years of helping my mom in the kitchen, chopping vegetables for dinners and holidays, I was continuing to learn different ways to cut up vegetables and fruits.
As I grow and mature there are and will be numerous things I will have a chance to learn and I plan to jump at all of those opportunities. I especially believe that the Florida State University will be able to provide me with the best opportunities to learn, grow, and prosper as I obtain my bachelors degree. I will never stop learning and I do hope that someday I will make a difference.
