Undergraduate / What do you do? Why do you do it? (20-200 words). [6]

There's a difference between being busy and being engaged. Lafayette comes alive each day with the energy of students who are deeply engaged in their academic, co-curricular and extracurricular explorations. In response to the prompt below, keep it simple - choose one activity and add depth to our understanding of your involvement.

````````` Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character, the four pillars that have helped shape the individual I am today. The Arista National Honor Society has been my backbone since sophomore year helping me lead, serve, excel and succeed. My biggest goal throughout high school was to be part of something bigger than myself, something that not only I was busy with but something I was engaged in. In order to be inducted in the society, I had to volunteer in the local community, serve other people, walk marathons, and help those around me. The members of the group have showed me it takes a dedicated and an open mind to communicate and compromise for the better of the majority. I aspired to one day be those individuals guiding others to make better decisions for the community. Now in senior year, I have the pleasure to say that I am the vice-president of Arista. Volunteering in my community has exposed me to people's experiences and how they cope with certain things, and because of this I have the opportunity to give other people the same experience. Being the vice-president has allowed me to help and motivate those who were once like myself.
Undergraduate / Interests led me into Biomechanical Engineering - Common App Essay [7]
I really loved your essay it was captivating and explained exactly why you were interested in mechanical engineering. However maybe you could tweak the last paragraph. Instead of saying "This is why I want to study mechanical engineering . You could say something along the lines of science fiction has sprouted my love for mechanical engineering or something like that.
Undergraduate / Students identify Lafayette as an excellent fit for countless reasons. Why Lafayette? (20-200 words) [3]
Students identify Lafayette as an excellent fit for countless reasons. In your response, be deliberate and specific about your motivation for applying to Lafayette(Why Lafayette? (20-200 words) (This is is the prompt). Be as critical as you can. Thank YOU!!!
I find it important for students to feel a sense of belonging, and view college as a second home, yet, at the same time have the ability to get out of your comfort zone and be independent. Lafayette is the epitome of this environment. I believe Lafayette would simultaneously make me feel comfortable while challenging me to get out of my comfort zone. At Lafayette the programs, clubs and traditions create a sense of family and community in which I would thrive in.Lafayette's small student body allows me to build close relationships with fellow classmates and professors thus making it easier for me to be part of the community and get a sense of belonging. Moreover, the study abroad programs to places like Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany will expose me to different and unique cultures expanding my perception. I could see myself attending The Rivalry and fully supporting and cheering on the football team. I see myself as a taking advantage of the student research opportunities through EXCEL Scholars program or conducting my own independent studies as a civil engineer. Lafayette's beautiful campus, facilities and resources can ensure that I will enjoy my experience and graduate as a strong and independent young woman.
