How will the proposed study contribute to your career?

Graduating from Flinders University will shape me into a beneficial human resource, ready to take part in setting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically in 'quality education' in Indonesia because Indonesia is not yet ready to implement inclusive education because of the lack of qualified human resources.

Studying gifted education at Flinders University, Australia, will equip me with skills necessary to meet the ever-increasing need for qualified gifted education professionals. Furthermore, on finishing my proporsed course, I will be able to demonstrate skills to reevaluate complementary interaction between gifted education and general education. With the knowledge and skills gained, I want to conduct a screening test to find unidentified gifted students, and also gather relevant data necessary to improve the system and policy of Gifted Education. In this regard, my short term goals are to join a school as coordinator of special education and gifted programming, and start research with an NGO or an Institution.

Moreover, my long term vision is to have my own platform to share about gifted education and inclusivity in schools and open a curriculum consultancy. I hope it will have profound and viable impact in the vast environment of education, by improving the inclusivity and diversity in the learning process of the education environment, which entails variation of curriculums based on students' ability to learn.

According to the report released by Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia in 2018, there were only 0.3% of special needs students and only 1.01% special schools in Indonesia. However, meaningful statistics for gifted students are lacking. This is the evidence that the concept and system of gifted education is not widely adopted by The Indonesian Educational Institutions and Educators. Consequently, there is a great need for educators to raise awareness. This would be problem a for Indonesia while setting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in 'quality education'. By studying gifted education in Australia, I hope to become an advocate and a counselor for talented students.

Gifted Education at Flinders University in Adelaide has excellent courses, which can help me improve my professional capacity and equip me to design education curriculum. For instance, there are four compulsory units in the course, namely, Conceptions of Giftedness, Intelligence and Creativity, Curriculum and Differentiation, Program Design and Evaluation, and Affective Development, which consists the core of gifted studies and are strongly recommended. Furthermore, one of the senior lecturers, Dr. Jane Jarvis, has written a book 'Exploring Gifted Education' and one her journal articles, 'Defining a Coordinated Approach to Gifted Education' which gives the students the opportunity to study from the experts.

Moreover, They have a community center called OASIS that has captivating programs for the students. One of it is Global Connections and Conversations Groups, which aims to connect international perspectives and develop confidence through discussion. Being an assosiate of the international community, I believe will shape me to be a better communicator and thinker.

To sum up, Flinders University offers a perfect combination of learning experience, developing skills and bolsters professional goals of students, while offering excellent courses on gifted education.
