Undergraduate / "Leadership Achievement " - Business Program Prompt [3]

I see where you are going with this essay. But you took too long to get to the point. Maybe cut down something at the beginning?

Two people I was least acquainted with in the class, and I had to work with them.

I took on a - not to be pretentious - leadership position.

^ sounds kind of awkward to me, maybe say something like: I took the first initiative.

told them I was doing the introduction, and the before-after observations of the stellar outburst; they had to do fluctuations in luminosity and the application to light blue variable stars. I recognized the importance of teamwork and I didn't coerce Bryan and Abhiram into doing the work.

^ HOW did you recognized the importance of teamwork? You might want to show it and not tell.

You have a lot of solid stuff here! Nice job!

Please take a look at mine when you get the chance!

Undergraduate / 'similar ideologies as my own' - Babson supplement- Dear Roommate [8]

Write a letter to your first-year roommate at Babson. Tell him or her what it will be like to live with you, why you chose Babson, and what you are looking forward to the most in college:

Dear Roommate:

While I jogged from my house to the Charles River and listened to my "Run Liyang Run" play list, my mind wandered off as usual. I thought about Babson, you, who I am and who I want to be.

Right now, I am listening to Kings of Convenience (they are my favorite band this month, what's your favorite band of the month?). There are some unfolded clothes lying around. My wet sneakers are blocking the door. A half eaten home-made burrito is sitting next to me. And that's the condition of my room most of the time. I am not the neatest person, but I do clean my room once a week. I like to run while it's drizzling. Also I love to make food, that means you will never be hungry!

Those around me often say that I am a spontaneous adventurer. I suppose I am, I did go to IHOP with a friend at 3AM one time and I did have a sleep-over on a roof. We will definitely go on tons of fun adventures at Babson. Whether it's gaze at Boston from a roof to clear our minds or start a small business to earn some extra cash. I am up for it whenever you are.

I am sure both of us choose Babson because we want a great business education, to be a part of the unique FME class and to have awesome retired-business-wizards as professors. In addition for me, a Tree Hugger, Babson became my dream college when I visited and saw the wind turbine standing proudly as a sign of power and optimism. I could see myself living in the Green Tower and organizing events for Earth Day.

As I learned more about Babson, my desire grew stronger. Over the summer of 2009, I earned the opportunity of working as a marketing intern for a newly established company, Crelligence Media, founded by Babson students. When I found myself having fun and working efficiently at midnight with the team while eating cheese pizza, I wanted to become part of the Babson community. I wanted to submerged myself in the harmonious working environment I been searching for. How did you discover that you wanted to be a Babson student?

With the start of college year approaching rapidly, I can't wait to meet new people and learn new things. I am also excited for the way my new experiences will help me to grow as a creative learner, as a good friend, and as an individual. I can not wait to immerse myself in an environment with people who have similar ideologies as my own. More importantly, together, you and I will learn how to tackle real life problems creatively through integrative thinking. We will leave our footprints at Babson like Jeff Avallon did with Ideapaint at the E-tower; it's a funny story, if you don't know about it. I'll tell you when we meet!

Sincerely,

Liyang Wang

Do you think I answered the prompt fully? Did I rumble on for too long?
Thanks!

Undergraduate / "shocked by the enormous damage we made",a significant experience and its impact [3]

Topic: Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.

Red leaves dance playfully in the air as the wind blows gently. The sun light blinds my eyes as it shines on the vibrant color of autumn leaves at the peak of their splendor. Fresh autumn leaves crunch and crackle under my feet as I walk. The familiar smell of brisk and crisp air tingles my body as it floats through my nose.

I take a deep inhale, trying to absorb all the beauty of the foliage of Boston. Red, orange yellow and golden star-shaped maple leaves lying lightly on the sidewalk, waiting impatiently to be picked up and wanting to share the marvelous autumn with everyone. I found myself looking down and trying to find the perfect looking leaf as a souvenir. However what seemingly as an easy task was very difficult to accomplish. As I look closely at the splendid golden road of leaves, I noticed many hideous, brown spots on almost every leaf. Feeling saddened and fearful, I remembered what I just learned in my Environmental Science class. The brown spots on the leaves is an abnormal effect causing by ground ozone reacting with the oxygen in the stoma. Various harmful chemicals in ground ozone is burning the leaves from inside out. Ground ozone mainly comes from automobiles, commercial manufacture and household utilities, all of which are part of our daily life. Simple daily human activities is eating away trees, turning rivers brown and filling oceans with trash!

Ever since I learned about the truth behind the brown spots, I realized, as a citizen of our society, it is my responsibility to conserve and protect our Earth both environmentally and socially. Therefore I started out with small changes in my daily life. Such as shorten my shower time from thirty minutes to fifteen minutes, started to recycle more, print on both side of paper, purchase from locally grown food and buy less clothe. In addition I expanded my knowledge in order to take part of the burden off the society to increase sustainability, decrease carbon emission, increase land and water productivity. With the help my environmental science teacher, we designed an independent study focusing on sustainable development and I challenged myself to make a full business plan for my own Eco-friendly business by the end of my senior year.

Watch such exquisite leaves gets ruined by human activities made me disappointed in our actions, shocked by the enormous damage we made and fear for our future, but at the same time, it motivated me to help our environment, inspired me to be more socially responsible and driven me to learn more.

Did I answer the prompt fully? and Any other suggestions and advise are welcome. Thanks in advance!
