Undergraduate / Recent academic challenge - math studying [4]

Describe a recent academic challenge you have faced.
Explain how you overcame it.*

For as long as I can remember, math has always been a difficult subject for me; in elementary school, it took me weeks to comprehend basic division and multiplication. Although throughout these last couple of years my math skills have improved, it's still a challenge for me to ace any math class. Last year when I enrolled in pre-calculus, I knew right away it wasn't going to be easy. The trigonometry functions, all the graphs and the complex equations left me dazed, I had never felt so overwhelmed. When studying for the tests and quizzes I couldn't help but to feel lost in a sea of arduous notes; I knew I needed help, from then on I made it my number one priority to attend all the after school tutoring I could- even if it meant I had to sacrifice some activities. To my surprise, the one on one sessions with my teacher made a tremendous difference- my grade went up a whole letter grade, and although it wasn't an A, I was extremely proud of myself, I knew I did the best I could.

At first I didnt really know what to say so I know its kind of bad.
Please help im open to suggestions.

Undergraduate / "Will I be able to make these pupils understand," about myself?-yale supplement [5]

I think it reveals a lot about youeself.
Your saying what you learned from this experience and how it has a made you a better person.. "Every new day promised a new experience for me and I always looked forward to it. The entire experiences helped shape the person I am today."

Its great.

Undergraduate / "Elizabeth C. Stanton; men=women" - bringing any person, NYU Supplement [10]

I dont know if this start is a little better or worse...

Elizabeth C. Stanton really inspired me with all the work she did as a suffragette; because of her proposal women were given voting rights, and for this, I am very thankful. I would bring Mrs. Stanton here to Florida to show her all the great things the women of today are doing; discrimination based on gender no longer occurs. She will be very pleased to see the political progress women are making, not only can women vote; they can fill government positions as well.

the wording in the fist sentence sounds a bit funny?

also i want to go into politics so should i try to add that in?

Undergraduate / "Dop-dop-dop-dop, Malaysia, fear of failure" - my common app essay [8]

I like the rain connection, its very original. I dont think it makes you seem week because at the end you say "Even when there is a downfall looming ahead, I devote myself to each and every project with the belief that I will shoot back up with the momentum gained from declining. Although I do not have a clear direction as to where I should progress, with optimism I dedicate myself and enjoy the values I gain from each activity. So long as I believe that these raindrops are falling elsewhere in this world to continue their blessings, my strides will never cease and I will happily take on the hardships."

Undergraduate / "Elizabeth C. Stanton; men=women" - bringing any person, NYU Supplement [10]

hello everyone
im new to this so i hope im posting in the correct place.

the question is as follows:
If you had the opportunity to bring any person -- past or present, fictional or nonfictional -- to a place that is special to you (your hometown or country, a favorite location, etc), who would you bring and why? Tell us what you would share with that person.

big problem: it has to be 500 characters or less, so i feel like i cant say all i want to say.

anyways here is what i have so far. i want to make it less boring, i think it sounds plain.

During the 1848 Seneca Falls convention for women's rights, Elizabeth C. Stanton proclaimed that all men and women were created equally and because of her proposal women were granted voting rights. I would bring Mrs. Stanton here to Florida to show her all the great things the women of today are doing; discrimination based on gender no longer occurs. She will be very pleased to see the political progress women are making, not only can women vote; they can fill government positions as well.

thank you.
