Undergraduate / Artist, artwork and design - What makes you a perfect candidate for FIT? [2]

due within the hour! would love feedback and editing

As a person and artist I have many contributions to offer FIT. Not only do I have many things to offer but I also believe in what FIT has to offer me. I am a determined individual that can take the skills I learn and manifest it something greater. With the help of FIT I believe I can become a successful interior designer.

I am very comfortable at FIT, I have participated in the summer and Saturday programs. I can say at FIT my skills have improved and it shows in my artwork. At FIT I know that they strive for the best and creative, I can offer that. Being passionate about art, I work hard on what I do and don't stop until I've reached my goal. I only go for the best. As a student at the High School for Arts & Business, my artworks have been displayed at the school's art shows and in the school halls. I have worked with different types of medium and many art projects. My creativity is shown in my artwork and who I am. Not only can I offer my art skills or creativity to FIT, I am also a very hardworking student. I am always on time with my assignments and try to get the highest grade I can. Getting an education is very important to me and schoolwork is a top priority. Working at a pizzeria/restaurant I have gained a few skills and being able to communicate with others on what they want is one of them. I am good with listening and taking directions. As a person I am giving and caring. I love to offer a hand when needed and participate in volunteer work also. I've done a few creative volunteer works such as making puppets to put on a thanksgiving play and making corsets for a senior prom. I plan on to continue volunteering after high school and bring it to the campus. I can contribute my creativity, determination, motivation and skills. At FIT I know my skills will excel there and will help me grow as a person. I can say I would gladly be part of that.

I've always been interested in designing rooms. It gives me great pleasure to rearrange a room or create one in my vision. Everyday I am in a room and can see what I would like to change about it or focus on more. I think a room or place represents a lot about a person. It gives off what the person is interested in; things such as what colors they like or their personality. It makes a person comfortable in where they are and enjoy being there. I am interested in interior design because its something I can see myself doing and love doing it. It also will provide satisfaction to clients and myself to have their dream room designed before their eyes. I am able to communicate with people on what they want and provide them with that. I may not be as skilled right now but I know with my determination and help at FIT I can be a successful interior designer.

Undergraduate / Pratt - When and how you became interested architecture (art too) [2]

and Describe how this interested has manifested itself in your daily life. The essay should be 250-500 words.
Urgent feedback would be much appreciated sending in today

Ever since I could remember I've always been interested in art. Just picking up a pencil and sketching anything around me always felt natural. Drawing from my imagination always felt great. Attending the High for Arts and Business, my interest in art grew with the help of the school's two amazing art teachers. They taught me there was so much more to art then just painting a pretty picture. I was always fond of designing and imagining how my own place would like in the future or just designing and constantly rearranging my room gave me pleasure. It was not until earlier this year however, I realized I wanted to become an architect.

Buildings and houses were always fascinating to me. It's a place where people call home or go into for work, and not many think about how it was constructed. To design and construct a building was far more complex than what people intentionally think. Everything in a room or building fits into place. There are many different types of architectural structures used to hold up a building, the physics and space required, yet architects find a way to make it work and beautiful. In AP Art History, my interest in architecture grew as I learned about the extraordinary buildings of the Greeks, Romans, Islamics, etc. New methods of holding up a building were invented and the technology used now did not exist back then but the structures were still managed to be built. Architecture is always changing, either a new method to hold up a building is created or the building itself is made to fit into its time period. I want to be part of that history. Learning about post and lintel, pendentives and squinches, and arches or what type of building it is has made me see every structure differently now. I see now that most houses use pediments to decorate the front of their houses and mosques use the hypostyle hall style or how most methods and ideas of the Greeks and Romans are part of the Western World's architecture. Just walking down the street I can see this in the houses and it excites me.

My interest in architecture has manifested into my daily life. I can point out the few things I've learned about it in certain structures or I look at a building and think of ways I can redesign it for the future. By going to Pratt, I know I will be able to fulfill my dream as an architect.

Undergraduate / "Studio Art with Mr. Fee" - a person who has had a significant influence on you [4]

thank you for the advice and proofreading! i have edited much more and added more to it :

Entering the High School for Arts & Business, I'd either had to take art or business for all four years. I've always been interested in art but at the time I was leaning more towards business and mathematics, so I chose business. My freshman year I did not take an art class, but since it was required I knew I'd have to take one eventually. Sophomore year arrived and Studio Art with Mr. Fee was on my program; most of my schoolmates loved Mr. Fee and agreed he was an amazing teacher. Eventually I found out they were right.

Taking Studio Art made me realize how much I really do love art. Something I considered a hobby turned into something much more. I had taken art classes before in middle school and elementary school, but never have I seen a teacher or person like Mr. Fee who was truly passionate about it. He was a painter as well as an art teacher. Never once did he put down anyone's artwork or tell them to give up. He saw everything as art. He made everything seem beautiful, even mistakes or what people would normally call boring. Throughout the school days I couldn't wait to attend my last period class and learn something new, draw something new, create something new, or imagine something new. By the end of the semester I loved art, I immediately switched from business to art. Almost every semester from then on I received an art class taught by Mr. Fee. He taught me the basics and more, from the complementary colors to different painting techniques to digital photography. However, my favorite class of his is the one I'm currently taking - AP Art History. Not only has Mr. Fee improved my art skills, but he is expanding my knowledge on the history of art. I've become fascinated about the different art works around the world; their styles, their purposes and materials used. Mr. Fee opened my eyes, there was so much more to art than just painting a pretty picture, and much more to life.

Now I see everything in a new perspective. I've become even more intrigued by art, not only for designing purposes but for history and the way the world is. I walk down the street and view everything as a picture or painting: the way the light hits a building or the different shades of blue the sky has. I look at the buildings in the city and recognize what type of architecture was used, whether it was post and lintel or vaults. Each building and artwork created has a purpose and history to it. Someone took the time to plan it out and create it. I want to be part of that. This year I ultimately knew that I had to pursue a career in something I love. I think what influenced me the most in my decision, besides my improved skills and knowledge, was one thing Mr. Fee had said; he told me he never regretted becoming an art teacher or painter. He never seemed miserable or unsatisfied at work or doing what he does, he actually loves waking up and going to work. It is because it is something he loves, and doing something you love is absolute happiness. Mr. Fee taught me so much more besides art, he taught me the key to happiness. His love for art has inspired me to pursue a career in architecture.

Undergraduate / "Studio Art with Mr. Fee" - a person who has had a significant influence on you [4]

Most people would say their parents, a family member or friend has had a significant influence on them. I'd say my art teacher, Brian Fee, has had a significant influence on me.

Entering the High School for Arts & Business, I'd either had to take art or business for my high school years. I've always been interested in art but at the time I was leaning more into business and mathematics, so I chose business.
