Writing Feedback / DO WE RELY HEAVILY ON TECHNOLOGY ? [6]

COMPLETED ESSAY:
There are many forces and factors that shape the society of America. Technology has a profound effect on how we as individuals conduct ourselves in everyday life. Technology is as important as air for these modern times. I personally utilize technology in my daily routine whether it is to cook, create web-pages, or to communicate with my peers. I, like many Americans today have become reliant on the usage of technology. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of convenience. While our increase in technology will leave print media long forgotten, developing countries that are not aided in their electrical and telecommunications infrastructure growth will still be relying on print media in the future and further influence a digital divide. Technology was once deemed to be an exciting additive to our world now it has transformed to somewhat of an essential need.

Technology is nothing more than the product of science so it ironic that it is intertwined in my everyday life. I use technology in every one of my life's endeavors whether to cook, create, or most importantly communicate. Technology is essential in my efforts to communicate with family outside of state. It not only allows me to communicate with my family through written words but visually as well. With developing software's such as Skype, Oovoo, etc I am able to see my family which diminishes feelings of distance. Not only do I utilize technology to communicate with my family but to be up-to-date with our transforming world.

The influential affects of technology has its pro's and con's. Yes, technology does bring about a new level of convenience but it also diminishes the use of one's brain and available work. The fact that technology has improved is a plus for us, nowadays there are many simple ways to find our needs and our answer to all the questions. Everything in life is so much faster and much more convenient because of the use of technology. No longer am I limited to writing letters and sending them by mail, now with the influence of technology I am able to send messages much faster through email, text messages, etc this makes my life more convenient. With convenience comes laziness. While influencing my life in many positive ways technology also limits the use of my brain. Although intricate, no longer must I attempt to remember numbers, birthdays, and appointments because my computer does all these things for me. This may seem like a convenient additive but it's actually limiting the usage of your brain. Not only has technology limited brain functions but eliminated the need for people in many jobs since they can perform better and more efficiently.

Technology is bound to have an irreversible affect on the media industry. In my opinion, most media industries will benefit from the advances in technology except print media. Print media over the next five years is destined to be long forgotten because of technological advances. Daily readership of printed media keeps declining because everything is deemed to be accessible online. Other media industries are likely to benefit from technological advances because they will be able to attract more viewers/customers easily and cheaper. This influence will help media industries grow and transform into something far different.

Digital divides are inevitable because most countries are not as tech savvy as the U.S or China. I think the only way to combat digital divides would be to provide assistance to eradicate the poverty of vast numbers of people as well as, help countries further develop their electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. Helping countries rise up from poverty will increase each individual's standard of living, as well as provide them with the resources to buy things such as computers in an attempt to narrow the digital divide. I believe that a countries infrastructure is what keeps it running. If attempts were made to help develop struggling countries electrical and telecommunications infrastructure that would give people access too many more technological things such as radios and satellites for mobile phones, further narrowing the digital divide.

In Conclusion, technology has had an irreversible affect on our life but there's still more to come. Although ironic, technology is intertwined in everything we do in life. There are many cons with the further development of technology but it brings a new level of elegance, relevance, as well as convenience to our lives. Many things will transform into simple memories because of the development of technology but technology will essentially help us grow as individuals. No longer is technology an exciting additive but an essential need in the lives of many.

Writing Feedback / DO WE RELY HEAVILY ON TECHNOLOGY ? [6]

PROMPT :Technology has a significant impact on our lives, from how we communicate to how we view news and entertainment
programming. Write an essay about how you use technology, how it influences your life, how you think new technology will influence the
media industry in the next five years, and what should be done to insure we don't have a digital divide in the years to come.

There are many forces and factors that shape the society of America. Technology has a profound affect on how we as individuals conduct ourselves in everyday life.

Technology is as important as air for these modern times. I personally utilize technology in my daily routine whether it be to cook, create web-pages, or to communicate with my peers. I, like many Americans today have become reliant on the usage of technology. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of convenience. In my opinion, the further development of technology will have a negative influence on paper media because everything is perceived to be accessible online. Combating a digital divide will be challenging but it can be done. To insure we don't experience a digital divide in years to come we could help other countries further establish their electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. Technology was once deemed to be an exciting additive to our world now it has transformed to somewhat of an essential need.

Writing Feedback / Describe the "TRAITS OF A LEADER" . Which of those fits you best ? [4]

PROMPT:In your own words describe the traits of a leader. Of these traits describe those that fits you best. and why?

Leadership is a learned behavior. Rarely is one born with the ability to lead. Authentic leaders are very seldom chosen by elections or through an anonymous rise to power. There are a certain set of characteristics that a person must obtain before they can be recognized as a leader. Amongst these are: an adamant set of morals and values, confidence, and trustworthiness .

A leader with an adamant set of morals and values gives those who they lead assurance that the decisions they make will be desirable ones. Leaders without adamant morals and values are not leaders at all, but followers.

A good leader is confident. In order to lead and set direction a leader needs to appear confident as a person and in the leadership role. Such a person inspires confidence in others and draws out the trust and best efforts of the team to complete the task well. A leader who conveys confidence towards the proposed objective inspires the best effort from team members.

A good leader has an exemplary character. It is of utmost importance that a leader is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live their life with honesty and integrity. A good leader "walks the talk" and in doing so earns the right to have responsibility for others. True authority is born from respect for the good character and trustworthiness of the person who leads. Of these characteristics confidence exemplifies my personality the best. I say this because throughout my life I have gone through and overcome many obstacles which have brought about physical and mental confidence.

Undergraduate / "I CAN is a 100 times more important than IQ" -tell us more about yourself [4]

I think this is how i would have answered the question as well. The only problem I see right now is the repetition of "i am" . . .I am the type of student who is willing to put in a hundred and ten percent into not only my studies but everything I do. I am the type of person that is willing to stay up all night helping her friend find her keys or the girl who will wake up anytime to get her mother a glass of water. I am the type of person who will sign up for 2 different volunteer works on the same day even though she has a major test the next day. I am the type of person that person who will stay up all night to finish her homework or project until it's perfect. I am the type of person who will never give up. I am responsible and self-motivated to strive higher & strive for excellence. I would think that repetition of "i am" would be used in a poem of some sort but not necessarily professional.

Undergraduate / "Morehouse Man" WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOUR LIFE THE GREATEST? [7]

Prompt: Please write a brief essay about the person, place, or event that has had the greatest influence on your life; and what influence you expect Morehouse College to have on your life.

It may sound cliche' but my father has been the greatest influence on my life. Without him i honestly don't know where i would be, and i most certainly would have not achieved as much as i have. You see, my father is not an ideal father figure. In fact, he very seldom behaves as a parent should. I wish i could write an essay about my "perfect father" who has pushed me to be all that i could be, and has helped me reach my full potential but that would be a lie; Unfortunately my father was the antithesis of this image. Although my father was an abuser of drugs he has had the greatest influence on all aspects of my life. I once lived in my own world of isolation and separation, it was very difficult for me to acclimate myself into the mainstream until i came to the realization that, that was the same way in which my father carried himself. I knew then that i had to do everything he didn't in order to achieve what he hasn't. I never fully understood the pedagogical effects of actions exhibited by the parents until i began to observe him, I was transitioning into him. Because of my father i now know what type of man never to become and what activities never to take part in. The main source of my drive and determination is derived from the absence of my father and my longing to become the antithesis of him. He has never provided for me but has tutored me vicariously through his actions. I am courageous, knowledgeable, and a benevolent leader, but I'm broken. Since moving to Georgia I have transformed drastically and have since broken the mold of which I once was but now I'm looking to be rebuilt. I know my name and my specific characteristics but what type of man am I? I expect Morehouse College to help me grow as well as change my outlook on many different things. Hopefully Morehouse will transform me into a "Morehouse Man", change my ideas on what i want my mark to be in this world, and help me evaluate me and the people i surround myself with. Life is all about progression, this (Morehouse) transformation will help me progress as well as help me to better myself.
