Writing Feedback / DO WE RELY HEAVILY ON TECHNOLOGY ? [6]
COMPLETED ESSAY:
There are many forces and factors that shape the society of America. Technology has a profound effect on how we as individuals conduct ourselves in everyday life. Technology is as important as air for these modern times. I personally utilize technology in my daily routine whether it is to cook, create web-pages, or to communicate with my peers. I, like many Americans today have become reliant on the usage of technology. It influences all aspects of my life by bringing about a new level of convenience. While our increase in technology will leave print media long forgotten, developing countries that are not aided in their electrical and telecommunications infrastructure growth will still be relying on print media in the future and further influence a digital divide. Technology was once deemed to be an exciting additive to our world now it has transformed to somewhat of an essential need.
Technology is nothing more than the product of science so it ironic that it is intertwined in my everyday life. I use technology in every one of my life's endeavors whether to cook, create, or most importantly communicate. Technology is essential in my efforts to communicate with family outside of state. It not only allows me to communicate with my family through written words but visually as well. With developing software's such as Skype, Oovoo, etc I am able to see my family which diminishes feelings of distance. Not only do I utilize technology to communicate with my family but to be up-to-date with our transforming world.
The influential affects of technology has its pro's and con's. Yes, technology does bring about a new level of convenience but it also diminishes the use of one's brain and available work. The fact that technology has improved is a plus for us, nowadays there are many simple ways to find our needs and our answer to all the questions. Everything in life is so much faster and much more convenient because of the use of technology. No longer am I limited to writing letters and sending them by mail, now with the influence of technology I am able to send messages much faster through email, text messages, etc this makes my life more convenient. With convenience comes laziness. While influencing my life in many positive ways technology also limits the use of my brain. Although intricate, no longer must I attempt to remember numbers, birthdays, and appointments because my computer does all these things for me. This may seem like a convenient additive but it's actually limiting the usage of your brain. Not only has technology limited brain functions but eliminated the need for people in many jobs since they can perform better and more efficiently.
Technology is bound to have an irreversible affect on the media industry. In my opinion, most media industries will benefit from the advances in technology except print media. Print media over the next five years is destined to be long forgotten because of technological advances. Daily readership of printed media keeps declining because everything is deemed to be accessible online. Other media industries are likely to benefit from technological advances because they will be able to attract more viewers/customers easily and cheaper. This influence will help media industries grow and transform into something far different.
Digital divides are inevitable because most countries are not as tech savvy as the U.S or China. I think the only way to combat digital divides would be to provide assistance to eradicate the poverty of vast numbers of people as well as, help countries further develop their electrical and telecommunications infrastructure. Helping countries rise up from poverty will increase each individual's standard of living, as well as provide them with the resources to buy things such as computers in an attempt to narrow the digital divide. I believe that a countries infrastructure is what keeps it running. If attempts were made to help develop struggling countries electrical and telecommunications infrastructure that would give people access too many more technological things such as radios and satellites for mobile phones, further narrowing the digital divide.
In Conclusion, technology has had an irreversible affect on our life but there's still more to come. Although ironic, technology is intertwined in everything we do in life. There are many cons with the further development of technology but it brings a new level of elegance, relevance, as well as convenience to our lives. Many things will transform into simple memories because of the development of technology but technology will essentially help us grow as individuals. No longer is technology an exciting additive but an essential need in the lives of many.
