'Aunt Caly' - someone that influenced my life [3]
Hi there! i'm not good at writing essays, so any help is welcome! :)
It was a hot Saturday afternoon, and I was at Church attending catechesis, when I was introduced to Miss Carla. She was quiet, and very observant of what we (as I was not the only one in catechesis) did. Every time she said something my attention was drawn to her, as I was curious to hear what she had to say. Little did I know that her actions would mean more to me than I imagined.
At the end of the catechetical year, I was virgin Mary in a play directed by Miss Carla, or aunt Caly -as we all called her-, to the children. I'd never done anything like that, however I felt like I could do it more often. It was very rewarding seeing how dedicated the children were, and contributing to bring the whole celebration together. Until today, those little boys and girls call me Mary when they see me in the street. I couldn't feel any happier, because I realized that despite it was only a few hours, a lasting impression stayed.
A new year came, and I remained in contact with aunt Caly. She formed a young missionaries group and I gladly joined it. In this group, I was the secretary. This position required responsibility, and organization. Although they weren't strange to me, at this particular situation they were tested, and even though sometimes I came short, I still tried my best to meet what was expected of me in that position.
Sometimes, it's hard to line up everyone, since we are so different and quite young. However aunt Caly leaded by example. She respected us. Therefore, she demanded respect from us. It was a subtle, but noticeable method that I adopted, and that also worked for me.
Aunt Caly is quite an influence in my life. Although most of what she showed me, was already known to me, it's how she showed me that made an impact on me. I'll take all that experience, and use it to face the challenges ahead of my future.
