Undergraduate / USC- annenberg statment of intent for a Public Relations major [2]

All applicants to Broadcast and Digital Journalism, Print and Digital Journalism, or Public Relations majors must submit a one-page Statement of Intent, explaining their reasons for pursuing an education and career in journalism or public relations.

My first visit to USC was with a club from my school. That day, I took a tour of the campus and one of the stops was in front of Annenberg. The tour guide, who also attends USC, told us about her friend, a current student at Annenberg, and how she has taken the opportunities to work for NBC, Fox, and various other well-known companies, an impressive resume for a 21 year-old. I had already fallen in love with the beauty of the campus, but at that moment I found her success story to be intriguing, inspirational, and most of all, exciting because I have always taken interest in all things concerning media and entertainment. Although I didn't decide at that moment that I wanted to be a Public Relations major, I knew Annenberg was where I wanted to be.

As I did more research on Annenberg, I became increasingly impressed in how the school is involved with all aspects of the media. If admitted, I plan to use everything USC has to offer, including the many student publications, to my advantage. I would like to get involved with Annenberg's TV and radio news as well as Impact, whilst pursuing my B.A. Another way I would like to get involved is by being a part of the Annenberg Latino Student Association because I would meet people like me with similar interests and again, it would provide me the opportunities learn more about public relations.

My ultimate goal is to be a PR manager, but I know things do not always turn out as planned. However I am certain I will use my time at USC to find my path, and since USC is so diverse and has much to offer I am confident that it won't be difficult to find that path. And because of its location and its reputation; USC allows for a uniquely situated potential for me to study and integrate myself in the media community through the well-connected and well-versed professors, as well as the school's networking ability, like the Trojan family, that can get me access to a multitude of opportunities, people, and internships that I would not have otherwise.

help, improvements, thoughts? any feedback is appreciated!

Undergraduate / 'Sharing this success with others' - UC #1- helping my community [6]

Immediately I knew I wanted to do more for the organization and as a result, I enlisted in another season as a Special Olympics volunteer.

I knew I could best help teach mentally challenged children learn how to swim.

ranging from high school to elementary school. i think you should switch elementary and high school.

The children I helped were not the only ones that were learning; se eing each child completely focused on learning made me more motivated to learn as well.

As a senior, my loyalty to a few clubs over the years hadhas paid off. -you're talking about loyalty, so "has" would be grammatically correct

Fulfilling the leadership position for Earth Club and Key Club, I learned to be absolutely devoted to my role in the clubs

Moving away to college next year, I plan on implying this same concept and being well involved in their community.

Undergraduate / "Let's play doctor!" UC Personal Statement- The hospital [3]

I used earphones as a stethoscope to listen to his heart beat and taketook a marker to gently hit his knee.

BecauseMymy family has an extended history of strokes and health problems, t he hospital wasis too much of a familiar place. Although I visited tothe hospital and role played "doctor" with my brother many times, the feeling of uneasiness alwaysstill managed tocreptcreep upon me when I entered through the sliding doors.

I tried to hold back the lump in the back of my throat

The idea of how medicine and the body functions intrigues me. mmm... this sentence kind of makes no sense, you seemed to have left out a part.. "the idea of how medicine... intrigues me." of how medicine what?

I want to be able to help my community, as well as the rest of the world, maintain a healthy life and prevent diseases.

just make these corrections, i like your essay :)

Undergraduate / 'between a celebrity and a journalist' - USC academic interests short answer [NEW]

Describe your academic interests and how you plan to pursue them at USC.

Growing up, I don't remember a time when my mom wasn't subscribed to a magazine. It didn't take long for me to get a hold of one and start to read articles about celebrities and entertainment. I believe this is what sparked an interest in me for the media and pop culture. Now, as a 17 year old, I know that the articles I read in magazines and the clips I see on E! News first go through publicists. This is what I want to be; I want to be a celebrity publicist, the middleman between a celebrity and a journalist, the one with the facts. I plan to pursue my interest for the media by enrolling in the B.A degree program for Public Relations at USC. If admitted, I look forward to taking courses such as JOUR 452 Public Relations in Entertainment, which will allow me to analyze real PR campaigns. Being at the heart of L.A., I strongly believe USC will be able to provide me with remarkable opportunities to learn more about the entertainment and PR business.

I'm not particularly fond of what I've written...I have a few characters left and idk how to improve.. any advice? :/
