Undergraduate / Science of psychology; NYU- Academic Interests [2]
It has to be under 1500 characters including spaces and right now I have 1422.
NYU's global network provides students with hundreds of academic areas of interest for students to cultivate their intellectual curiosity and to help achieve their career goals. Whether you are entirely undecided about your academic plans or you have a definitive program of study in mind, what are your own academic interests? Feel free to share any thoughts on any particular programs or how you might explore those interests at NYU on any of our campuses.
Over the past two years I have become thoroughly intrigued with the science of psychology. The AP Psychology course I took my junior year was very different than what I had been expecting, but it still fascinated me. I didn't realize how marvelous the human brain really is or how many tiny little parts it takes to make it work. At NYU's College of Arts and Science I hope to be able to explore this career pathway and discover if this is something I want to pursue as a career. As a part of NYU's unique cross-school programs I'm also looking into minoring in Cinema Studies because I've always been fascinated with the art of filmmaking. I remember as a child I would always be so much more interested in what happened behind the scenes of a movie, and I would always want to watch my movies with commentary so I could understand the decisions that the directors and producers made. So from a very young age, I've understood how technical and work-intensive filmmaking is, yet I've always wanted to try it for myself. I've always dreamed of what it would be like to be involved in creating some sort of film. I've also always had an interest in theater, which is why I was so drawn to NYU, because I know how seriously the arts are taken there. So if accepted I'd plan to participate in the College of Arts and Science Theater because I would still be able to explore my love of theater as an extracurricular activity.
