Undergraduate / The features of nursing profession. NURSING PROGRAM ADMISSION ESSAY [5]

@zumbastrol
Thank you so much for your feedback. I am currently not at the school I am applying to so I will be transferring to their nursing program as a junior. I agree that the ending is a mess. I had many ideas I wanted to include but was not sure how to arrange or express them. I would greatly appreciate more advice on how to improve fluidity and conciseness!

Undergraduate / The features of nursing profession. NURSING PROGRAM ADMISSION ESSAY [5]

The College of Nursing is committed to ensuring a positive, nurturing, and safe environment by respecting and affirming the diversity of individual's identities, backgrounds and points of view. How do you see yourself contributing to and supporting this commitment in the nursing profession? (PROMPT 350 word limit)

respectful nurse

Encouraging a working environment that supports differences allows for a greater chance of being able to embrace changes in all aspects of life. Possessing a fair and open mind toward others gives an advantage in many situations. Appreciating the diversity of individuals begins with yourself. Being aware of your own cultural beliefs and practices and recognizing that people from other cultures may not share them is an important concept for all people, especially health care professionals. As a nurse I will encounter individuals with unique identities, backgrounds, and points of view within professional and personal relationships. It will be important for me to practice from a holistic point of view; remaining compassionate and respectful of the differences that make people who they are. Adapting to their differences will ensure a sense of safety and promote mutual respect between health care professionals and patients. It is healthy and beneficial to learn from one another. By working as an aide in a nursing home I have gained lots of experience pertaining to diversity and I continue to learn new things during each shift. Asking others about their practices, etiquette, and knowledge is key to establishing effective assistance for patients and a successful working environment. Creating a judgment free setting encourages interactions for gaining new knowledge. Others' points of view bring new experiences and different perspectives that add value to your insights. Respecting all others and remaining sensitive and flexible when responding to them is necessary for establishing a positive and nurturing environment. Embracing the differences found in individuals' unique identities leads to harmony within all relationships.

Writing Feedback / Topic is "Science, not art or literature must be taught at universities" do you agree or not? [3]

Your essay is decent except for a few things that I noticed.
"For instance, it is scientifically proved that almost all the students..." .. I would replace "proved" with "proven"
I am confused as to why you ended the second paragraph saying science should be the only subject to be taught when your main point was that all three subjects are important. Also, I would consider revising the first sentence of your conclusion from, "Indeed , science, art and literature are one of the most important subjects to be taught at universities." to, "Science, art, and literature are some of the most important subjects to be taught at universities."

Writing Feedback / Most countries allow 18-year-olds to drive a car. [3]

@eetester
Just a few things I noticed:
"While some people support 18 ... Others, believe that driver's license ..."
These two sentences seem to need revised. I would suggest either changing this information to, "While some people support 18 years as the minimum age for driving cars, some believe that driver's license should be permitted only for 25 years old or higher." or, "Some people support 18 years as the minimum age for driving cars; however, others believe that driver's license should be permitted only for 25 years old or higher."

Also I would suggest expanding more on why you came to the conclusion that 25 is the ideal age.

Undergraduate / Another late night at the hospital. Constructive Advice Needed on Nursing Program Entrance Essay [2]

The lessons we learn from challenges are fundamental to later success. Describe a challenging situation you experienced. How will you apply what you learned from the experience to nursing. (PROMPT)

I get home from another late night at the hospital. I finish my homework, continue my research on possible careers, and hopefully get a few hours of rest before school the next morning. My aunt had been diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder (schizophrenia and bipolar manic depression) a few years prior to her death. She was constantly in and out of hospitals, noncompliant with her prescription medications, and relied on my family to care for her. Since her prescription medications made her feel groggy, she began to self-medicate with heroin. Watching this happen to a loved one was extremely painful for my whole family. With juggling high school, caring for my aunt, doing my best to comfort myself and my family, and having to decide what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, it all seemed so overwhelming but I always remained calm. I learned how to manage my time and found ways to cope with stress. This painful time in my life lead to me the decision to major in Nursing. I truly feel that my purpose is to care for the sick and comfort them and their families. Although it was difficult, caring for my suffering aunt gave me an indescribable feeling. Being able to apply my compassion in such a way gave me a sense of well-being and worth; I felt complete. As a nurse I will get stressed out, I will have late nights, but I will look back and realize that it was all worth it. This challenging time in my life put me on the path to a rewarding career and I could not be more thankful for it.
