APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF AN OFFICE ASSISTANT

I am writing in response to your advertisement at career.com.ng for the post of an office Assistant, as a candidate with extensive leadership proficiency and one year working experience as an administrative assistant, I am highly skilled in Microsoft office packages. My solid background in people skills has allowed me to manage teams with exceptional performance.

The opportunity to join your organization greatly interests me because of the exceptional service and professionalism. As a holder of degree, certificates, I can competently execute any responsibilities of an office assistant. So, I believe that I would make a valuable asset to your organization and I offer my resume for your review.

As a person who thrive in excellence, personal accountability, integrity and professionalism in the discharge of both my private and public duties and represent myself and employer in a professional and ethical manner. I always yearn to ensure that I always pay close attention to detail and ensuring that my work is nothing short of my best at all times. So am confident that this post is a perfect fit for me.

I have demonstrated the highest levels of service and commitment to the mission of any organization I have worked for. As an intern at Federal Inland Revenue service FIRS through Vat coordination, I offered a strategic idea which improved revenue collection significantly and saved about 70% cost.

Thus, if you are looking for an organized candidate with excellent organizational and time management skills, strong analytical and aptitude in problem solving, proficiency in Microsoft office, strong attention to details, teamwork, excellent communication skills, confidentiality and strong interpersonal skills. You are welcome to contact me to arrange an interview. I am eager to learn more about how your organization can benefit from my contribution

You are not clear as to whether is a letter meant for a Task 1 essay, or if you are really applying for the position of an office assistant. The advice you will receive will vary depending upon whether you are a job applicant or exam taker. I'll try to cover both bases in my advice to you.

As a Task 1 Essay:

You only have 20 minutes to write this task. By writing over 300 words, you will need 40 minutes to complete the letter. That means you will run out of time to write the Task 2 essay. Do not write more than 1750-200 words for this task. That way you can review your work before moving on to the next test. As for the content, your request is clear and you have properly represented the outline of information from the original prompt. This is not a bad letter for a test submission. As a professional letter, it is wanting in many ways.

As an Application Letter:

You need to approach this cover letter as a summary of your resume. Highlight your accomplishments as an administrative assistant. Make sure that you use bullet points for your office expertise so make it easy for the reader to learn what your skills are. You need to offer evidence of your people skills with a summarized reference to it. In reference to the company, you are not really telling the reader a personal reason as to why you want to work for the company. Your information is too general in reference that you could be discussing any company in the letter. Revise that portion to better reflect what your professional ambitions are and why you believe working at this company would be a stepping stone towards achieving that goal. Never use words of over confidence, but don't use words of uncertainty as well. Try to be in between, be humble while requesting for a formal meeting where you can dazzle the interviewer with your skills as an office worker instead. Make sure to highlight what you hope to contribute to the company should they decide to hire you as part of the team. Even though you will be an office assistant, you will need to explain what sets you apart from the other applicants. I don't get a sense of that in this letter. You need better information development in the presentation.
