I needed an emergency letter of recommendation for a special masters program I am applying to after another one of my professors had to to back out. My professor asked me to write a few paragraphs on my goals and aspirations. I need the letter quick and really did not have time to write one, but I have a previous one (rough draft) that i think may be suitable for the job.

Please let me know if it accomplishes the task of describing my goals and aspirations. Any feedback and edits would be much appreciated, thanks!
Please dont kill me on this one, its just for a letter of recommendation, my personal statement is far better, but totally unrelated to what he wants.

My endeavor for getting into medical school is one step further than I had anticipated. Over the last 3.5 years of college I have worked hard, stayed attentive and focused to pursue a career in medicine. Unfortunately the same event that drove my passion into medicine has also left a burden on my family. The last few years have been far from easy, but the struggles and hardships faced in balancing a fulltime schedule at school and attending to my family have helped me to build my endurance and further solidify my pursuit of attending medical school.

My undergraduate studies exposed me to a vast array of science domains that evidenced the abilities and extent to which biological studies have enabled therapeutic applications to help the treat illnesses and aid the ailing. My choice for medicine was steered by personal experience with my older brother who suffered from leukemia, and despite his valiant effort, he passed away after an invasive relapse. An often cliché quote that I put into perspective was to not take things for granted. I became to value the need for education as well as the importance of family. The effort put forth by my parents was to receive a good education but not to forget the importance of family when needed.

Over the course of my college career I have learned to budget my time between helping my father manage his small business, a role that my older brother had previous held, and provide sufficient time to focus on school. And though my application to medical school currently would prove to be unsuccessful, I plan to attend a special masters program at either Georgetown University or Cincinnati, both of which I feel confident my academic performance proves worthy for. Both programs are structured around students who are striving to improve their academic record for medical schools and I feel I would be an excellent applicant for a position into their program.

I hope to successfully obtain admission following graduation of this year and prepare for a curriculum that parallels the first year of most medical colleges. In the meantime, my family has continued to stay supportive and recent events have allowed we to allocate more time to school as well as given me the ability to successfully accomplish the academic credentials required for medicals school.

It's about YOU - NOT medical terms.
vast array of science domains that evidenced the abilities and extent to which biological studies

Blah Blah Blah

Tell me about empathy!

Better still - tell me why you will PROVE to be a valuable addition to THE prestigious medical staff and how you WILL contribute to the team! Tell me how you can expect to become not a doctor, but a doctor of considerable caliber - noteworthy.

I feel this essay focuses more on your hardships than anything else. You should reflect on your personal qualities more.
