Early Russian History topic

Hey everyone,

I need to write a research paper on early Russian History. Basically at the time we were supposed to pick a topic, we went over 1) Indo-European tribes that absorbed each other and blended 2) Kiev 3) Novgorod. To be safe it probably has to occur between 500-1200 AD.

The ONLY thing I ask of the topic is that it has some type of debate to it. I'm supposed to have a thesis and such so I don't want to be simply stating things I read

If you have ANYTHING please let me know, because I've been very unsuccessful finding one, but I do prefer topics such as war and tribal lifestyles. Also topics rich in theory, since I like theories opposed to details (unfortunately history is full of details).
