Dear all, I'm applying for the Scholarship for the first time and would really appreciate your comments.
Thanks for your time and effort in advance!

My working experience in education and the management degree has provided me with understanding and practical experience to work in educational planning, management and administration in devising solutions to educational challenges. To successfully develop the online platform for Chinese kids, what is missing from my skill set is the knowledge and skills develop, implement and assess technology with respect to their impact on learning and teaching. Getting a degree at the master level in Education and technology is highly significant to my career aspirations. It will prepare me for a leadership role working with digital technology to meet the challenges of the future.

My first choice and second choice programmes are both in IOE at UCL. London is the hub for educational innovation and IOE has the unparalleled faculties in its scale and in the depth and breadth of its expertises. It is also easier to foster my existing network of Chinese students at IOE and to link me with education professionals all over the world via IOE alumni network.

1. University College London -Education and Technology

This programme aligns perfect with my quest to acquire the practical and research skills to design, use and evaluate technology-enhanced learning interventions. It has a board view of how to embed technology within educational practice. One of the issues covered in the core modules is 'Does technology make education fairer?' which particularly resonates with my interest and research area. I can also explore a variety of technologies and new media, and their application to educational issues, contexts, and practices in different disciplines, such as math, science, and the arts.

2. UCL- Digital Media, Culture and Education MA

With a narrower view of technology and the emphasis on digital media, this programme offers more in-depth theory with practical understanding of digital media, Internet cultures and game design. Digital media is incredibly effective and attractive in kids' formal and informal educational settings. I will research how to use digital media and interactive practices to ignite the students' curiosity and ingenuity, help them become civically engaged, allow them to collaborate with peers worldwide, and empower them to direct their own learning. An internship opportunity is included in the programme which will allow me to put the ideas and tools to use in real-world settings and projects.

3. Newcastle University - MA International Perspectives (Technology in Education)

Newcastle has a reputation for its endeavour to think 'outside' the box on how technology can enhance education. I am attracted to their open and innovative approach in teaching a core module 'The Future of Learning' by asking the students to take notes using Twitter and the hashtag. To add to that, this programme also features the placement in a local primary or secondary school. This would be an enjoyable experience and a great opportunity to contextualise my understanding of the learning theory in a school setting.

Shang, I am advising you to create a secondary introduction for the 3rd university on your list that doesn't follow in the same vein as the first two schools that you introduced as your top choices for your masters degree studies. You successfully created a background regarding your profession for the first two schools which strengthened your desire to enroll in either university. It would be better if you can also present a professional relationship between your interests and this third school. With that addition, you will be able to better describe and support your desire for higher studies in both courses. You can either present the 3rd university as a separate one or include it in the previous introduction. All you have to do is make an adjustment in order to better reflect the 3rd school's validity as an option for you based upon your professional or academic experience.
