THIS PART OF THE ESSAY IS CONFUSING ME. I HOPE I AM IN THE RIGHT TRACK
showing the gratitude
My love for motion pictures started from a tender age. I watched action films a lot, especially those of Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan, and every time I was mesmerized. The question 'I had was how is this possible,a person is not dead but he just jumped off the bridge'. This motivated me to find out more in the future, hence the course BA(Hons)Digital film and Television when I started tertiary education. Here I was introduced to other genres, and loved every minute of it. The media industry in Botswana is at an infant stage so I plan to utilise my academic experience to expand my knowledge and the marketability of the industry in Botswana.
First year of my study will be my Korean language learning, where I plan to get extra classes part time with the natives and in turn helping them with the English language which I realised its difficult for them. I plan to be part of production team as a volunteer to get first hand experience and get a glimpse of the production. Attending the greatest drama awards will motivate me to work very hard. I will take part time courses like acting and music since they go hand in hand with my field of study. I plan to finish my study in the stipulated time.
Given the chance to work in Korea, I would to involve more in community service as a way of showing gratitude to the Korean Government for the golden opportunity to study in the best of their universities. Upon returning to my motherland , I will use the skills acquired to better the economy of my country. I plan to start Hangul classes back home and liaise with the Korean government to run these classes. This may help build Korean embassy in Botswana since there is none.

Hi Debby,
I can see you are feeling the way most have been doing with regards to the KGSP scholarship. But like I have been advised do take a breath and do not panic. Your work is on the right path given you know what to write down. Your work needs grammatical correction and but that would be for later.
I do not think you have used the two page suggested for the SOP and so you may be giving them little to read about you here. Try and give a detailed plan of your study when you arrive Korea.
best of luck
Holt Educational Consultant - / 15451 Tshireletso, the statement of purpose for the KGSP falls under the requirement of the Goal of Study & Study plan along with the Future Plan After Study. These are two separate essays written on a single page each. In this instance, you should present your goal of study first. That said, you have mentioned some information in this essay that you can use in the development of your study goal. The information you can use is as follows:
- The media industry in Botswana is at an infant stage so I plan to utilise my academic experience to expand my knowledge and the marketability of the industry in Botswana.
- I plan to be part of production team as a volunteer to get first hand experience and get a glimpse of the production
- Upon returning to my motherland , I will use the skills acquired to better the economy of my country.
Expand upon the above information to create your study goals. The purpose of your study is located in the first line of information. The method of your improvement is in the second line. Expand on that discussion to include the focus of the training that you hope to achieve. Finally, explain how this training will help you to improve the film making industry in your country.
Finish the study goal first. Write a full page. We will work on the post study plan next. For now, focus on the study goals. Don't confuse yourself by trying to answer the two prompts in one essay.
@debby89
Hello, I think the essay should give them more about your plan. You may give them about what do you plan about education when you arrived at there in first day. And how you will develop your knowledge while you in the course or give them know what do you want to do at there about your field for gain your knowledge and experiences.
@Holt
maybe I got confused because in the application form, its one page divided by half, where the top mentions goal of study and study plan where you have to talk about title of research and the bottom is future plan after study. the instructions say it should be no more than two pages
Holt Educational Consultant - / 15451 Most students do get confused by the directions given because of the way that the form is printed. The answer is in the fine print of the instructions which state that for the two essay responses, you cannot have more than 2 pages. so it is either you write a page and a half for each essay or you write one page per essay. Most of the students opt to write one page per essay prompt. That is because it is impossible to present an accurate study plan, composed of a thesis statement, methodology, and expected outcome in only half a page. As for the post study pan, you need to represent 2 sets of plans in that response. One that indicates your plans upon graduation, during the time when you are required to stay in Korea and work there, and the other, upon your return home when you can share your knowledge with others in a theoretical and practical manner. So it is one page per essay. Print your response to each prompt , per page, and attach it to the document. I hope this ends your confusion.

my revised essay
I stayed with my mom in the school compound and the weekends were so boring, so I decided to always join the entertainment program made for students staying on campus. They would watch series of different films as a way of refreshment. . It was always noisy but all I really enjoyed the atmosphere because I was mesmerized with the scenes only not the dialogue. I always had this question in my mind, "how is it possible for a human being to jump off the cliff, hit their head in a rock and still survive"? I was very curious of this.
During the time of my final year in Cambridge, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was introduced in Botswana, the first university of its caliber in Botswana. It had a long range of technological courses where the students will be more practical than theoretical. This is a place where I learned more about film making, different genres from television drama and commercials and this led to my BA (Hons) in Digital Film and Television. Upon graduating I reaised that production in my country is at an infant stage. We have only one broadcasting station which is government based. Most of the programs are government based, too official and this limits creativity. Almost half of Batswana subscribe to networks of other countries because they all say there is nothing interesting about our station on my side I just watched my DVD collections. It really bothers me because it is a blow to the country's economy. Having studied Masters in Arts, majoring in Film, Television and Multimedia from one of the best universities in Korea, I plan to utilise my academic experience to expand my knowledge and the marketability of the industry in Botswana and help her government to merge the gap of high unemployment rate for her youth. I would love to get a first experience of the Korean production. I will volunteer to be part of the production and playing a small role will help to get a glimpse of the best. Theater clubs can always be helpful so I plan to join one of those as it will also help me to make study partners for the Korean Language which we are supposed to learn the first year upon arrival because I need to get a deeper understanding of the language for me to do really well in my studies.
Upon graduating I would love to liaise with the Government of Korea to help develop the Film industry in Botswana which is still developing. It will help know emerging production technologies and the commercial and industrial aspects of the international film and television industry. This will help build a better film industry for the upcoming film students.
Film is not only about entertainment, it is a way of communicating to the masses. It is a communicating art for both literate and illiterate. Motion pictures can serve as a comforter to the broken hearted as they can sometimes relate and through film get comforted.
Holt Educational Consultant - / 15451 Can you please clarify which of the two prompts you are trying to respond to? This is still a combination response that does not properly represent either essay requirement. I told you that you have to write two different essays for this particular part of the application. The first one is a study goal discussion, which is related to the relevant research that you will be doing at the university in relation to your masters degree. For a clearer and less repetitive discussion of those requirements, please refer to thread # 3. Work on the goal of study / study goals first. Then start a new thread for the post study plans. The essay that you have above is a personal statement and does not contain the required elements of a study goal nor post study plan. Please decide which essay you want to write first and work on that with me. At the moment, you don't have any solid essay to present for either topic. If you have already created and finalized your study goals essay then let me know so that we can focus on properly developing your post study plan instead.

Hi Debby
My observation is that your second paragraph is too big and have multiple ideas. Try to represent one idea per paragraph this will help you in developing a good essay on Statement of Purpose, like the example of the two sentences below, you can treat them as the basis for your research problem/ the motivation for wanting to do a major in Film. The paragraph in Bold can be a starting point of your future plan essay
1. During the time of my final year [...] (Hons) in Digital Film and Television.
2. Upon graduating I realised that [...] a blow to the country's economy.
Having studied Masters in Arts, [...] to do really well in my studies.
