All the way through my life, I have confronted a chance to practice role of a Leader. I have experienced it as being leader of my class in my school life, as leader of school debate and speech team, being leader of every project and presentation team in university and as well as a family member. These opportunities helped me learn qualities of a leader. It taught me how to be a team member, best listener, attentions to details, patience, confident and disciplined. It helped me to understand that one must be realistic, not too optimistic.
Engineers are naturally developed as leaders and managers to lead the industry because it is the requirement of their job nature. I was hired as site engineer at my first job where I worked for more than one year. As a site engineer, I worked as team member with management and as team leader on site. Working as part of the site management team, I had to liaise with, and works alongside architects, construction managers, engineers, planners and subcontractors. As a member of management team, I had to liaise with client, consultants and planners and as a team leader at site, I had to coordinate with my team. This job required that I must have good qualities of a leader. I must have confidence, persistence and realistic approach about my work. I must have a vision ahead of my work to solve upcoming problems and meet my project goals. I used my leadership skill successfully to lead a team to achieve my project goals on time.
Currently, I am working as a member of project management team in National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) which is a multinational organization. Here, I came across a wider range of technical persons that help me to prove and harness my leadership and influential skills on a daily routine basis.
As a family member, I am very first person who is a university graduate and an engineer. My education and career laid a path for many young's in my family towards higher education to refine their life quality.
With this experience in my career, I had worked both as a leader and team member. I have utilized my skills and improved them. I can say that I can work as leader with good achievements in my future. Therefore Chevening Scholarship will provide me a chance to move forward, acquire more knowledge, which I will bring back to my country for development.

Mirza, you mentioned some things you did in your second paragraph so I think you should take one task and show how you do it and what you have achieved being a leader by just giving one clear example with how you face a problem and solve it as a leader and your influences on that time. I think that will help you strengthen your essay.

Academic leadership is only applicable to college application essays. As a masters degree scholarship applicant, the only concern of the reviewer is if you are leader in your profession. That is why Chevening's prompt clearly indicates "leaders and influencers of their country". The scholarship expects you to be able to change the direction of your country either on a national or economic level. Hence the focus on professional qualifications of leadership and influencing.
The second irrelevant detail is the paragraph about your family. The reviewer will not be impressed by this information because it is definitely not related to leadership and influencing based on its content and discussion. Therefore, this section should also be removed. It will not affect the rightful content of the essay which is the reference to your being an engineer.
Your positions as site engineer and as a member of the site management team readily convince the reviewer that you have the ability to lead based upon your occupational training. That is very strong in this essay. However, your influencing style as a member of the site management team is not represented in a more enlightening manner. You need to show evidence of proper influencing skills either in relation to construction managers, fellow engineers, planner, or subcontractors. These are the people that, based upon your narration, you may have needed to heavily influence at certain times during the project work. Think about some of those times and discuss the one that stands out to you the most in the essay.
After you accomplish that revision, your leadership and influencing essay should be good to go.

I had to liaise with, and works alongside architects, construction managers, engineers, planners and subcontractors as a team member. I had to lead to my own team at construction site. This job required that I must have good qualities of a leader. I must have confidence, persistence and realistic approach about my work. I must have a vision ahead of my work to solve upcoming problems. My project was construction of 2 lac gallons underground water tank, 50,000 gallons overhead water tank, one kilometer concrete road and a 6000 square feet mezzanine slab. I had a team of four members with their subordinates and subcontractors to complete this goal. As a leader of team, I held a meeting with my team to discuss working methodology, resources and problems before start of work. After the start of project, I held regular meetings with my team to discuss progress and issues, provided solution to problems. I used my leadership skill successfully to lead my team to achieve my project goals on time.
Currently, I am working as ... Here, I came across a wider range of technical persons that help me to harness my leadership and influential skills. I led a team of three members to develop project feasibility and preliminary design report. Before start of work, I held a meeting with my members, discussed what we have to do, how we will do, why we will do. We formulated a path to complete our work on time and we did it smoothly.
