To observe and learn is fundamental to all humans but the experience is more profound when a person is brought up in a challenging environment. Raised in a small town in the suburbs of Abbottabad, life was tough in the mountains; where everything had a premium. Better education had its own cost, my parents moved to Rawalpindi, sacrificing the generations old hometown. And through hard work, I complemented well by securing admission in one of the most prestigious earth sciences program in the country.

I chose Earth Sciences with the major focus towards mining sector. Stigma behind this selection was the great potential of mineral at Pakistan's disposal, despite which the mining sector contributes only less than 1 % (according to official figures) towards country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP); and things don't seem changing in near future. However, the major impediment for the development of mining sector has always been the dearth of professionally assertive technical people and lack of utilization of their expertise in minerals exploration and production.

My bachelor's degree and my work experience, both are all about georesources; what I lack is a problem solving toolbox that engineering brings with itself! In last semester of my undergrad studies, I worked on the genesis of magnesite in Abbottabad area, KPK province, Pakistan. An important aspect of this project was putting up of a genesis model for massive magnesite deposit in sedimentary environment.

I see Stipendium Hungaricum as a great opportunity to get cutting-edge education in the field of Earth Science Engineering. I am keen to attend Master degree in Earth Science Engineering because of its peculiarity as this course designed to put theoretical knowledge into practical skills, by teaching students engineering subjects. The skills I am most excited about, that I will most likely develop are georesources exploration techniques along with comprehensive understanding and ability to solve related environmental problems. These skills being diverse and scares, can bolster my career; enhancing my professional impact. As, there is a dearth of Engineering expertise in Earth Sciences, opting for this program can open my way to new career paths.

Currently, I am working as an Intern in a reputable private mining consultancy, where we provide mining solutions to our clients. I got hands-on experience in LeapFrog 3D modeling software when we were working on a mineral exploration project. I also developed a very rare skill of micro-chemical identification of minerals that is very helpful for quick identification of minerals, while working in far-flung areas. We also conduct field work in remote areas to solve various mining problems.

After graduating in Earth Science Engineering, I see myself as a dynamic professional who has ability to solve a wide range of geological and environmental problems that are commonly encountered in complex geological setting of Pakistan. I want to serve under-developed mineral industry of Pakistan where many mega-projects, like "Chiniot-Rajoa Iron-copper ore Project", are on delay due to lack of technical expertise and mismanagement. I aim to join such delayed projects to offer my expertise and contributing my part for the betterment of mineral industry.

I firmly believe that with my compelling personal interest, quest for knowledge and the expertise gained through your prestigious university my dream will come true and it will help me secure a great career path.
