my study choices in the uk
I have chosen MSc in Public Health in Bangor University, MSc Public Health and Health Promotion in Swansea University and MSc International Health Policy in The London School of Economics and Political Science as I want to work towards preventative healthcare. Studying in the UK gives me an international perspective of examining health policy issues. My BSc (Hons) Nutrition helped me gain knowledge on being able to plan, develop, execute, monitor and evaluate the nutrition programmes implemented for the targeted groups and community. This is a step to venture into a postgraduate program in Public Health I am grateful for my university for that experience taught and also put in practise during projects. For my professional experience I worked as a community nutritionist in public health clinic. I conducted interviews, survey for research studies, focus group discussions for pregnant anaemic mothers and many more. I heard a lot of stories from my experience and decided that there is so much to do in the Malaysian population. So many underprivileged people are unaware of the food they eat. I believe preventive health care needs to be reached. Moreover, I want to make a difference among the young teenage women. Most of the mothers I conducted nutrition consultation were in their early 20's. And they were unable to have a proper support system for the child. There is a great need of education to young women moving to womanhood. I believe pursuing a postgraduate degree in the field of Public Health will allow me to work alongside with many different types of discipline and fields to improve people's live. Another issue I want to work with is the Health body of malaysia. The nutrition labels on the food products are misleading and leading the Malaysian population to the wrong side of health. Malaysia has one of the most unhealthy food products highly marketed as a nutritional food. Cancer, E coli bacteria, viruses all come from the food we practise to eat. Many research on food are not discussed because of business within every other food company. When children can be educated about the right diet to practise this can help make a small difference. Alongside the government has to tighten the laws for health policy issues that I look forward in campaigning for. Poverty, violence and racism is another public health issue faced by both educated and uneducated communities. I want to be able have the opportunity to engage with talented Malaysians that work in a variety of subject of fields and support chevening objectives. I want to get this experience of a lifetime that I can bring back to Malaysia. I want to build plenty amount of experience during classes and during my semester breaks in Public Health. UK has a high quality healthcare that is available to everyone to be able to benefit from. And there is so much to learn from UKs public health system. I want to immerse myself in the with as much as experience for a better Malaysia.
