(Accounting and Finance)

Accounting and Finance, "The Language of Business". This is what I was taught from an early stage of my life. With my granddad as an accountant and my sister studying to be an accountant, I wanted and will follow in their footsteps. I've always had a concern, "What would this world do without money?" I now have the opportunity to find the answer to my question.

Having a bit of trouble at the start of my A-Levels as I didn't know which career to walk into and after the first year of A-Levels, I realised I choose the wrong path to go into, in which now I've realised Accounting and Finance is my future. Having a keen interest in maths from a young age, I chose to study it at A - Levels. I was always willing to do any sorts of problems, willing to take on any challenge. I would love to take on Accounting and Finance as my biggest challenge yet. After the first year of A-Levels I choose double business. Choosing this gave me a good opportunity to understand the business world. My dad being a chef in a company, made me interested in the Catering side of the world, so I chose Hospitality and Catering for my GCSE. That gave me a really good chance to work with the elderly and the local community and in fact it helped me understand how difficult it would be to run an event. This also helped me understand the financial aspects that are necessary in a business. I carried on this subject for my A-Levels and achieved the highest grade possible for the first year. Even though I don't want to go into this career, I always wanted a side option that I can always refer back to. Even though I chose the wrong choice at the start, now I've made my final decision and will get thought this course without giving up, hence the reason why I think I'll be suitable for your university.

Besides studies, I have many interests. I'm more than satisfied with everything I've done and am doing. As I consider education, I believe that I am capable of doing anything I want and that this will be the chance for me to stand apart from others. Besides having an eagerness to do math, I also have a strong passion for dance. I could say I live for dance. Since the age of 10 I've been learning Indian Classical Dance, also known as Bharathanatiyam. Since I've been involved in dance, I've become interested in other styles of dance, which lead me to join a dance group called GJ Arts. Doing Bharathanatiyam helped me allow myself to lend a hand for the less fortunate, back home in Sri Lanka. I've participated in many charity shows to raise money and send to people in other countries. Furthermore, joining GJ Arts, also allowed me to understand the troubles of other people and also help them.
