Hey all, I just needed a little reassurance on the essay. I will definitely appreciate it. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!
As a junior in high school, I knew that college was approaching rapidly, and I still didn't know exactly what I wanted to do, or where I wanted to go. Many questions flew through my head; would I adjust quickly, would I fit in, or would I succeed at a university? I am the type of person who likes to be prepared for what is coming, so I even wondered if a four year university was the right fit for me immediately after high school. Quite honestly, I was not sure that I was ready to take on the task of being at a university or to leave San Antonio and be on my own.
The one thing I had been sure of since the beginning of high school was that I wanted to be a part of the business field. During Thanksgiving break of my junior year, I sat in on my sister in law's Intermediate accounting class at Concordia University in Austin. I found it so interesting that accounting wasn't only about doing taxes or math, but a lot of it was about business ethics. That is when I had my "epiphany" of sorts; that's when I decided that Accounting was the career I wanted to pursue.
My senior year of high school, I decided that I would only apply to the University of Texas at San Antonio, to stick my foot in the door for my college experience. However, plans changed and I ultimately decided to attend Northwest Vista College to get familiarized with the college workload and get more help in areas that I needed help in, before transferring to the University of Texas in Austin. I know now that this was the right decision for me, so I could be more focused and motivated and develop my study skills further.
Being at Northwest Vista for the past two years has definitely been a beneficial start for me to learn time management and for me to complete the basics for my major. It also gave me time to realize my true goals in life and allowed me to become more focused on how to obtain these goals. The more classes I have taken, the greater my drive for learning and succeeding has grown. Since being at Northwest Vista, I have reached the point where I know that it is time for me to move on to bigger and better; the University of Texas in Austin is where I belong now.
Attending the University of Texas in Austin has been my dream for as long as I could remember. It is not only because the campus lies in the beautiful city Austin, because I know the instruction I receive there would be the best I could ask for. I understand that the kind of determination and commitment needed for University of Texas in Austin is greater than going to a community college, but I am sure that I am ready. I am confident that I will overcome any obstacles that I will encounter and welcome the challenge. To graduate from Red McCombs Business School at UT will provide me the best guidance for becoming one of the best Certified Public Accountants in Texas.
