ESSAY: Thomas Edison a man who had became all too familiar with failure once said, "Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time." Through his relentless pursuit of success he made one of the greatest inventions in human history, the light bulb. I too would describe myself having that unrelenting fire for success. Growing up in a military family I was taught at a young age the value of discipline and good character. These same values molded me into the man I am today. Throughout my father's twenty year military career my family and I followed him wherever the Navy needed him, which required my family and I to adapt to new life circumstances such as going to five different high schools in a matter of four years. I'm always asked how I dealt with the transition of "being the new kid" so many times and my response is the same as my fathers, "adapt and overcome". I recognize the multiple Q-drops in my transcript, however I do not believe it is a reflection of my character. I know I am a good student and capable of passing any course. Like Edison said I would try just one more time and like my father says I will adapt and I will overcome. I graduated from Houston area high school and lived most of my life in Texas so naturally Texas A&M has always been my dream school. After attending Blinn College for a year it is clear that there is only one school I want to graduate from and that is Texas A&M. I know Texas A&M can lead me to a path of academic excellence and help me achieve all my goals as a construction science major. Their military like core values remind me of my childhood and something that runs deep in the person I am. Texas A&M University possesses such deep tradition that I yearn to be a part of and someday hope my children can also be a part of. From their midnight yell, Kyle field, core of cadets, the Aggie ring, and outstanding academic track record, no other school stands in comparison. Once you're an Aggie, you're always an Aggie.
This is my first draft, the two Q drops are in reference to a engineering calculus class that I had dropped twice when studying to be a STEM major however, after some serious consideration I have changed my major to construction science. Which require Math analysis (business calc.)
