The intersection of epidemiology and politics currently drives my personal research and writing projects. I believe it is 2025's most relevant byproduct of a profound history of the intersection of societies and science. This topic encompasses scientific preparedness, spreads of diseases and crisis response. My interest began with an essay for the annual Maurice Hilleman contest. Dr. Hilleman, credited with over 40 life-saving vaccines, inspired me to consider the growing miseducation toward vaccines today-a sentiment I personally reject. To explore this topic further, I participated in two writing challenges. One focused on the rise of pseudoscience, and the other examined a lack of respect for scientific literally, exemplified by nuclear proliferation and atomic weapons. These endeavors have deepened my understanding and motivated me to engage in activism, including signing parliamentary petitions.
