Personal Essay
If you had asked me eight years ago where I thought my life was going. I mean who can say that they actually ended up exactly where they thought they would be eight years ago? I can promise you that this isn't what I thought would have happened. Not saying I don't love where I am, trust me I do. Let's just say it is better than I could have ever imagined. No, life isn't perfect; it is a crazy and heck-it messy life.
Eight years ago I was an average teenager. I was an only child living in a small town attending Ellington High School. I worked a part time job after school during the week and on the weekends I spent time with family and friends. The only goal I had in mind at that time was to get out of high school. I worked hard to graduate a half of semester early so I could attend college in Poplar Bluff at Three Rivers Community College. While attending college I meet my future husband.
Today, I have been married for five years, with two wonderful boys Hunter age four and Orrin age six months old. My oldest boy has just started preschool at Southern Reynolds R II School in Ellington, Mo. I have lived in Ellington my whole life, my husband loves it here and refuses to move anywhere else. Sean is my husband's name; he works at Doe Run Company and has been there for almost five years. Currently, I am not working but look to get a part time job soon. Most days for me consist of money managing, getting my son off to school, cleaning house, and getting to all appointments on time. What little free time I have is spent with my family. We spend time horseback riding, four wheeling, at the rivers, and sometimes at home barbequing. Life isn't as it was eight years ago it is even better.
My goals for the future are to take one day at a time. Live to make the best of even, the worst situations. To raise my kids up to know right from wrong or just getting them to the age of eighteen without any broken bones would be nice. One day we wish to own our own home with enough land to keep our horses on and maybe buy a few more. I am working towards getting my associates degree in elementary education and hope to proceed to my bachelors. After, I receive my associates my plan is to work as a teachers aid or a substitute at one of the local schools.
For the five years that I have been married every day is progress. My goals will change more than I will be able to keep up with. No matter how much the goals of life change always know that like mine sometimes they end up better.
