The Grand Leader
A person who has had a major impact in my life is my Girl Scout leader, Mrs. Elena. She's a daughter, a sister, and a mother. I've known her for nine years of my life...and in those nine years it has been full of fantastic memories. She's has been a great leader, actually an EXCELLENT leader, and the best most honest, humble friend I've ever trusted.
Mrs. Elena is thirty five as of now. She has a child named Adrian that is two years old. She lives in Houston, Texas in a large lovely house. Her profession is computer engineering. It took her eight years to get her profession. With determination and faith she got to where she wanted to be in life.
Our Girl Scout troop nine years ago consisted of twenty five girls. Nine years later, the Girl Scout troop went down to only TWO girls, Shayda, my friend, and me. Throughout those years, Mrs. Elena took us out to camps near and far from home; she took us to places where we could volunteer at. At these places she teaches us things that help us out in the future.
Camping with Mrs. Elena has taught me to be independent. For example at camp, god knows at what age I was going to learn to cook an egg! I personally dislike working in the kitchen but I learned to cook for myself, make a fire, clean up after myself, and collect things that would be useful to survive in the wilderness. I learned how to swim, how to tie knots, how to paddle a boat, make a fishing rod out of twigs, and to pitch a tent. The girls in my troop and I learned from Mrs. Elena that not only did we have to be independent for the benefit of our own self but to help others in the troop In need of help.
Mrs. Elena is a very GO GREEN person. She shows so much interest and dedication in saving our planet. I've learned why she has so much interest for that and because of that I now recycle and use recycled items as she does. I also want to save our planet. She was the first to introduce me to global warming. Mrs. Elena bought awareness to her community and now has them recycle trash in large bins located at the end of her street. I also helped bring awareness to my school. My art teacher started recycling all papers that needed to be thrown away.
As the years go by, I've had to deal with a load of responsibility, especially in high school. High school is no joke. Teachers expect students to turn in all work on time. Teachers expect you to study and know all information for tests. Mrs. Elena taught me to be organized. She told me to always have an agenda in which I can write all upcoming events and important dates. Thanks to her advice my years in high school have been organized and stress free.
She's had a seriously immense impact on me; because of her I know how to be a leader. I've been more independent and I've learned to trust my self to do the right decisions. I've dealt with huge responsibilities at home, in school, and outside in my community. Leadership is not easy. It comes with responsibilities. Like I've said before, Mrs. Elena is an excellent leader. Mrs. Elena has made me do many Girl Scout projects that require me to be a leader. I've had to bring interest and awareness out into communities, plan events, estimate expenses for materials, maintain a budget, keep people conscious of what has to be done and what responsibilities they have to pursue, keep order, safety, and discipline in the event, and make sure people have fun!
She's taught me to NEVER EVER give up on my dreams. She told me that there will always be obstacles in the future and that I had to always be ready to face anything, her advice has came in very handy. Mrs. Elena is a very dedicated person. She dedicated her whole spear time to girl scouting. Her dream was to be a Girl Scout leader, and with her dedication she accomplished her dream.
Mrs. Elena symbolizes a woman realized in all senses, like a professional, like leader, like a mother, and like a friend. She has reflected upon me that I can keep dreaming and accomplish any goals I have set for myself. It's not magic or words that will help me succeed in the future; but determination, dedication, responsibility, leadership, and faith, just as Mrs. Elena has taught me.
