I'm not quite done with this! The deadline is tonight, and I know that it ismy fault for procrastinating, but I would really appreciate ANY feedback! The prompt is:

What is your comfort food and why?

From my early childhood, if I remember one thing correctly, it is that I have always been a very picky eater. The one food that I fell in love with instantly, however, is the grilled cheese sandwich. It looks like a simple meal that takes just minutes to make which is completely true, but the taste is just so original. I love everything about the sandwich, from the sizzling of the buttered bread as soon as it is placed onto the pan, to the crunchiness of the toasted bread, to the warm cheese dripping from the sides, to the delicious aroma that it leaves in the house.

A grilled cheese sandwich easily became my comfort food not only because I love the taste of it, but also because it brings back many memories. As I was growing up, there were many times when I stayed home alone with my older brother. We would often fight over the littlest things such as whose choice of television show we would watch on the projector in our basement or who would get to eat the last cherry popsicle left in the fridge. But when it came time for lunch, we would happily sit in our dining room eating a delightful grilled cheese sandwich. At that point, nothing else really mattered. We would focus on eating our sandwiches and laughing until our stomachs hurt. Now, whenever I eat a grilled cheese sandwich, those small memories come rushing back to me. I can see a younger version of my brother sitting right across from me chuckling and telling the silliest jokes which still never fail to make me laugh to this day.

I'LL CONTINUE ADDING MORE AS I CONTINUE WRITING. THANK YOU :)

I like what you have done so far with it, the beginning made me want grilled cheese!
for this part " It looks like a simple meal that takes"
I would maybe change it to something like: To most people, this is just an easy meal to make, but to me it's more than just a sandwich. or something like that

I like it, very unique. I love the part about you and your brother.

You mention briefly the metaphorical representation of the sandwich, 'This shows that it really is the simple things that matter the most in life.' I think maybe you could expand on this comparison a bit more.

You could mention the contrast of effort it takes to make a big meal, and how little effort it takes to make your comfort food -kind of like little pick me ups throughout the day. idk just ideas.

Good luck!
