I would like some help with writing an essay to include with my application for Madison Media Institute. I want to get in to their Recording and Music Production program. They want a brief 200-500 word typed essay describing my career goals. It should contain relevant background experience that has assisted me in choosing a career path. And describe how I expect Madison Media Institute to assist me in accomplishing my goals.

So this is what I have so far. I'm not so good with filling in. That's probably what I need help with the most, and maybe no one can help with that really. Still, if you could help me with what I have so far, that would be great! Ugh! I know it's not very good. I included the sentences about my previous job last minute before I posted it. And I do need more words.

My goal for the future is to be happy no matter what I choose to do. I used to work in an office. It was an ok job but I didn't have a passion for it and it didn't challenge me. I got laid off but maybe it was a good thing because now I have an opportunity to do something I'm passionate about.

I have a passion for music. I think working in a job that includes music, will help me achieve my goal for the future. At home, I have enjoyed playing around with Audacity, a free computer program for editing audio. Going to Madison Media Institute will help me learn more about this type of software. It will also give me the tools to work in the Recording and Music Production field.

1. You can write about your family background and cases where a particular family member influenced you to learn music.

2. Any achievements in the musical field.

3. What specifics of the institute attracts you the most : its infrastructure, its brand name, quality etc..

My goal for the future is to be happy no matter what I choose to do.

You know Andrea, some people search all their lives for a career in which they are happy. What will happen if you go to Madison and find out that you are not happy? Think about it. Say something concrete, something specific. For example, you could say that you want a career as a ______ ______ in the music industry.

Ok so I ended up having my sister help me. I may change a few things yet, but I think it's pretty good now!

My career goals are to be happy and excited about the work I am doing as well as enjoying to go to my job every day. My prior full-time work experience was in an office as an Administrative Assistant. I am a dedicated, hard worker and I thought it was an okay job, but I did not have the passion for it and it did not challenge me. I was laid off due to the economy and the company downsizing, but I see it as a good thing because now I have the opportunity to pursue a career that I am truly passionate about.

I have an infatuation for music. I enjoy going to concerts and listening to music. I think working in a profession that includes music will suite me well and help me achieve my career goals. Although I have no formal media education yet, at home I have enjoyed playing around with Audacity, a free computer program for editing audio. Going to Madison Media Institute will help me learn more about this type of software. It will also give me the tools to work in the Recording and Music Production field. I am excited to explore the wonderful world of music and I strongly feel that Madison Media Institute is a great place to get started! Thanks for your consideration.

Okay... the music has to create an experience every moment. You can't include any sentences without substance:

My career goals are to be happy and excited about the work I am doing as well as enjoying to go to my job every day. too obvious, everyone wants that.

My prior full-time work experience was in an office as an Administrative Assistant. Boring sentence, room for improvement.

All that sentence above does is inform them of your recent job. Do it in this next sentence:

I have been employed as a dedicated, hard working administrative assistant, and I thought it was an okay job, but I did not have the passion for it and it did not challenge me. I was laid off due to the economy and the company downsizing, but I see...

I have an infatuation for music. ---in the kind of music called writing, there is a rule of thumb: show, don't tell. Show, by telling about an event or some thing...mention something weirdly intriguing... I have an infatuation for music. My infatuation with music has actually cost me some friendships.

I enjoy going to concerts and listening to music. boring

Talk more about audacity and the projects you have completed; talk about it seriously, not just "playing around," because that is good experience you are getting with audacity. It is impressive that you are already involved in the work you want to go to school to do. Not everyone can say that.

Write one paragraph of this essay as though it is intended to convince your friend to become a recording & artist; tell all about the great aspects of this art form.

Sorry I called some of it boring! Never be boring, always clever.
