STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Only inside a cocoon does the caterpillar grow wings to become a beautiful butterfly hovering around flowers blossomed during spring.
Like the cocoon that mystically, yet so truly metamorphs a leaf eating, green slimy caterpillar to an enchanted butterfly; the family and the environment in which an individual is raised, metamorphs a helpless, goofy , crying baby into a wiser social adult. I am from a family with a strong business background, and belong to a town that is highly industrialized. I owe my education to my mother who has supported me to receive the finest education , hurdling me past the common discrimination against women education prevalent in my society .she has got a great contribution in making me what I am.

As the words goes "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" I have as a child dreamed to be like my father, a self made man, who stood all by him self for his education and his career. He happens to be my idol and source of inspiration ever since I understood the word inspiration.

In this pursuit of childish dreams, I laid down my realistic goals. I did my schooling from a school in my hometown, St. Vincent Convent School, renowned for its quality of education, ethics & discipline. Having an apt aptitude, I was guided by my school teachers to take up life sciences during my senior secondary years. On knowing that India being an emergent hub in the field of biotechnology, I was keenly interested in the research of biotechnology hence opted for an interated postgraduate programme in biotechnology. And as a part of my academics I worked under some most renowned state laboratories, namely Regional Plant research centre, National research centre on plant biotechnology and Best Biotek Labs, Bangalore.

In the due course, I did my first training on "bioleaching of oresfor extraction of nickel".due to my keen interest in biochemistry and molecular biology I further continued my trainings in this field. With the guidance of Dr. P.C.Panda I had worked as a trainee in "analysis of genetic diversity using biomarkers".this gave me a insight about development of a gene expression biomarkers. In my final year I had an opportunity to work under Dr.Kishor Gaikwad, senior scientist in the National research center on plant biotechnology(NRCPB), Indian agricultural research institute as an intern where I worked on "molecular biology techniques", "Genetic transformation"and "Cloning" that gave me good practical skills . My experience paved way to sharpen technical skills in the field of molecularbiology. I also had the oppurtunity to be part of the "ILLUMINA'S next generation sequensing "training program conducted by NRCPB.

Apart from my academics I like to indulge myself in socializing. I am an influential speaker and can connect with people easily, some other qualities of mine worth mentioning are that I have excellent presentation skills; I believe I am hard working and sincere. At school level I was a house prefect, elected by the teachers and students of my school and I served as a member in the youth council. At college I realized my leadership and organization skills and utilized them in organizing various events like Blood donation camps, Environment awareness campaign. I was also selected among top 20 teams in Biotechnology Entrepreneur Student's Team India 2010, Bangalore. Organized by ABLE and DBT (Govt. of India). The project was based on waste management and energy sustainability.

Through the experiences gained over the years from such activities I believe that I now have a better insight about myself and a broader perspective of the world around me. I have gained confidence in interacting with new people and in being a good leader.

I am quite adaptive to different situations and environment. I try to handle the dynamics of life as circumstances demand. . However I believe along with experience,my passion, creativity and the ability to work independently as well as in group are the traits which will help me in becoming a successful researcher.I finally would like to devote my cumulative knowledge, experience in expanding research in significance of molecular biology in xxxxxxxx.

It is indeed a small world yet the differences are quite humungous be it ethically, culturally or economically. In an attempt to understand such differences I opted to apply for my PhD abroad, in a nation renowned for practicality, work culture and dedication, further acknowledging the degree of excellence from Your esteemed University. I sincerely believe that pursuing my PhD from The xxxxxx University would enable me to fulfill my goals and empower me to strive for the future I hope for myself.

I hope I am given the opportunity to be a part of The xxxx University.

kindly let me know any changes...
thanks
