There are many great aspects about GW. But why me and why GW? And why am I applying for the school? Ever since I was little, when I was full of curiosity and always asked many questions about causality, or whenever I was happy or unhappy, my grandfather told me that "The Lord works in a mysterious way." or simply "Things happen for a reason, and there is no coincidence."
Like many other applicants, I can write many sentences or descriptions why I am the perfect candidate and what kind of contributions I will make for GW. However, I would like to make honest statements. Sometimes, an ordinary day's decision can have life altering consequences. In Asia, we call it divine intervention or destiny. I just have this hunch or good feeling that GW will be an important four years of my life. Not only am I confident that life in GW will help me quickly expand my educational horizons along with the appreciation of the diversity, but also I believe it is a place where I can fully realize my potential and creativity. Therefore, even though my test scores and GPAs might not meet your requirements due to my foreign backgrounds, I have strong convictions in that at GW I can fully develop and even excel at a faster pace.
According to Kent School's (my current school) graduates who went to GW, many of them say that the benefits of the education they receive extend far beyond the classroom. Finally, the tour of the school was what gave me a permanent impression of GW. The campus has furthered my interest at GW through not only its location in the city of Washington DC, but also through the appearance of the campus itself. The campus environment provided a pleasing scene to the eye. Although people would often point out that there is no real campus at GW, the luxurious and innovative classroom buildings and the city that surrounds GW, to me, stood out amongst top ranked universities. I still remember my friend telling me that, "In GW, you can push yourself to the limit if you want to excel, and the support will be there. All you need is to dare and to work really hard."
Dan, my friend, who was very pleased by my interest in school, told me that GW gives students a lot of opportunities to participate in internships before going to graduate school. Then for a moment, I imagined working in a huge company imagining one day I will be a real business leader of my generation.
Since I am still a senior, my understandings of the world and university life could be superficial and do not fully reflect the future lying ahead. Nevertheless, I always welcomed new challenges and was quick to adapt to new surroundings. From my perspective, I have recognized that GW was emblematic of a community of caring educators. I am confident that GW's exceptional course offerings and opportunities for research in economics studies, as well as its ethic of personal care for its students, provide the best possible environment in which I can thrive as a student and a great human being.
