A Penn education provides a liberal arts and sciences foundation across multiple disciplines with a practical emphasis in one of four undergraduate schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Nursing, or the Wharton School.

Given the undergraduate school to which you are applying, please discuss how you will engage academically at Penn.

(Please answer in 300 words or less.)

Having been shown around much of the physics department by Professor Cvetic, I was instantly attracted to the Penn department, and would love to see out my intended major of physics here. Though this is my intended course of study, my interests are not limited to this. Over the past few years I have developed an interest in law, and I could see myself as a part of the Penn Mock Trial team, a perfect combination of my interest in both law and debating. I also want to learn about how others see life, and I can see no better place to learn this than amongst the Philomathean Society, which greatly appealed to me, taking education outside the realm of the classroom.

But if granted admission to Penn, my first academic ambition would be to apply to be a Benjamin Franklin Scholar. The integrated studies program, similar to the General Education Curriculum, will give me exactly what I am looking for in my studies; a cross-curricular approach to problems, both broad and deep. I envy the 'enlightenment' that my brother is currently experiencing in the ISP, and would like nothing more than to share the same experience.

I hope to give fellow Penn students a very different perspective in our learnings. My racially culturally diverse upbringing has provided me with a unique lens through which I see the world, which I feel gives me the ability to contribute with a variety of standings in any learning environment. Given the academic atmosphere at Penn, which is constructively competitive and racially diverse, I know that UPenn is the best program for me.
