While I was thinking about what I should respond to the prompt, I read the following statement on the Rice supplement form "Rice University is committed to affirmative action and equal opportunity in education and employment. Rice does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national or ethnic origin, age, disability or veteran status", this statement made it easier for me to write about myself as it explains in simple words how much Rice university prefers diversity and promote the minorities.

I have lived most of my life in a small town of Pakistan where, people struggle for the basic necessities, students like me study in candlelight due to the electricity shortage, and people strive after their homes are destroyed by natural disasters. On the other side of all the hardships, it is the colorful tradition of the region that has been passed down from centuries ago that compels a person to experience the life as a member of a society that has faith and are honest to each other. People who live there have always been promoting peace, but unfortunately from the past decade everything has changed, not just for an ordinary Muslim but also for any Pakistani around the world. Pakistan as many other countries of the world is one of the most severely hot victims of the threat of terrorism. I should mention here that one of the main reasons of my family to move to The US was that our lives were no longer safe in a country where there were bomb blasts every other day. Moving to the US was a life time opportunity, it is giving be a chance to more independent than ever, study in institutions that are one of the best in the world, and giving me a chance to explore myself.

If I am given a chance to study at Rice university, I will try my best to leave an impression of love and peace on others and show them that not every person is the same, I agree that people have done crimes that cannot be tolerated but we always interwoven with the bond of human kindness that God has gifted us with. Then there is another side of me thirsty for scientific understanding of the world that makes me want to learn as much as the neurons in my brain can hold. I have never felt hesitant in helping others and have always been actively participating in group projects, I would do the best I could to assist others and promote an environment of peace where everyone is a family stronger than any other.
