What did you do, what was the outcome, and what did you learn from the experience?
During the winter of 2019, I experienced my first peak season at FedEx. While working in customer service, I encountered a surgeon who flew in from the states to perform surgery at VGH and shipped his surgery equipment via FedEx. Due to the pandemic and high volume, the shipment was delayed at our hub the day before the surgery. Knowing the situation's urgency, I immediately informed my team and supervisor and briefly explained the situation. I organized a voluntary search in our plane cargo container to locate the equipment. Joined by a few of my colleagues, we successfully retrieved this delicate equipment. By assuring how urgent this shipment is, our courier team lead personally delivered it to VGH two hours before surgery.
It was my first time under enormous stress knowing what was at stake. I understand how important it is to handle stressful situations calmly, and communication is the key to resolving problems.
