What work of art, music, science, mathematics or literature surprised, unsettled or challenged you?
As a twelve year old, when it comes to playing a musical instrument, "Guitar" is what most people respond. But for me, this was never the case. I had always underestimated the level of difficulty, sophistication and practice it required. However, my views changed when in eighth grade, part of our music curriculum required us to learn guitar lessons, I was truly surprised by how passionate I had become about playing this instrument by quickly becoming enchanted by those six strings. This instrument gave me a new perspective. I was able to tell apart the different feelings my friends expressed when they played their own work in the class. I discovered a passion by playing this instrument and learned that it wasn't just about strumming a couple of guitar strings. I enjoyed every moment of it.
