Select a four letter word in the English language which should be expunged and explain why.
The word 'undo' is primarily employed in statements of regret. It indicates that one covets to travel to an earlier period of their life and alter certain actions in order to ameliorate their present state. Alas, the past cannot be rewritten. It is impossible to reverse one's errors, and no gain exists in expending a great deal of time regretting them. For instance, I did not play well in the first game of a recent provincial chess championship. Following the match my mind was filled with the moves that had caused my loss. I sat there wishing to undo my moves instead of spending time preparing for the following match. Did this better my outcome? Of course not. Consequently, it exacerbated the situation by clouding up my mind and preventing me from cogitating on future matches of the tournament. As opposed to dwelling upon past mistakes and desiring to undo them, one has to move forward, while managing time effectively with the knowledge and confidence gained from past experiences. These experiences are great milestones on one's life long journey and can greatly assist in solving any future difficulties. As Winston Churchill points out, "The farther back you can look, the farther forward you are likely to see." The purpose of all words is to enable humans to question, think critically, learn and as a result advance in life. The word, 'undo' does the opposite; it creates a state of deep regret and prohibits any progress from being made.
Thanks a lot for the help. I welcome all critique as to how I can improve.
