I personally disagree the statement that to work quickly and have more risk making mistake is more important than to work slowly and make sure everything is fine for brand influencing customers purchasing decision, personal credit and the substantial unaffordable mistake.
Information transports quickly in nowadays, and customers know how well a product is immediately after the company introduce to the market. A successful brand comes from the best quality of their products and the reputations, so it cannot take the risk to introduce products that have many defects. Take Apple Inc. as a example, it is the most successful brand in the world right now, and it introduce its iPhone series product in a frequence like almost once a year, which is slower than other mobile phone brand.
What you represent decides what kind person you are and how people judge you. If one tends to work quickly, maybe his boss would be happy at first, then he after all would find out that one can work quickly only because of taking more risk making mistake. This will definitely influence one's reputation in a long way.
Besides, we cannot be sure how much we are going to pay the price of the mistake if we are not trying to avoid it. The consequence could be unaffordable to repair the mistake. So, in my opinion, one could not be more carefully to make sure everything is correct.
