The children in my family have always had different expectations depending on their gender. The men have been expected to leave the vicinity whenever there was a celebration occurring, while the females were to have a fun and wonderful time. The males have been expected to do the heavy lifting when helping other family member's move, while the females were to serve as guides on where to leave all the belongings. Both genders have been expected to graduate from high school, however, the women were supposed to find a husband while the men were to start working. All in all each gender has equally been mistreated throughout my family.

Whenever there has been a celebration, no matter the gender of the person whom the party was for, the male children have always been forced to relocate to a separate location besides where the main party was occurring. The only reason we could go to the party was to get a drink, use the restroom, or get something to eat. There have been multiple times where there have been arguments about whether or not one of the boys could stay. I remember my cousin saying, "But aunt Albina I want to play with my other cousins on the bounce castle."

She replied sarcastically saying, "Well too bad you guys can't be here, you already know that." Prompt is how are the genders in your family treated differently.

In terms of sentence structure, flow, and clarity, try not to rely on too many prepositional phrases. An example of this is in the first sentence of paragraph three.

Also, be clear on why the men were expected to leave the vicinity during a celebration. Is it a cultural or traditional meaning behind the males being separate from females during celebrations? Many families use celebrations as a time to be together, so explain why this is different in your family.

Clarify the first sentence. How have the children had different expectations? Or, do you mean that adults expect different things from the children based on the child's gender?

You might want to consider an opening sentence such as: "In my family, the roles of children and adults differ by gender." Then lead into why the roles differ and ways that they differ.

In your second paragraph, give the examples such as Aunt Albina's comment and how the children reacted to her. Also, remember to capitalize aunt when preceding a proper noun.

In the third paragraph, sum up what you explained previously and how you feel about the gender differences in your family.

Good luck! :)
