I need help on my Antigone essay, it's over wether or not she was a hero and i need another reason on why she is a hero, Also i need help on writing a conclusion paragraph, please help, this is what i have so far
Antigone is a story by Sophocles about a girl who decides to stand up for what is right even when she knows it is against the law. Many people argue if Antigone is a hero or not. This essay is all about the reasons she is a hero.
I think Antigone is a hero because she is not afraid to stand up for what is right. "He has no part in keeping from me what is mine."(Sophocles)
She says this to Ismene after hearing that Creon has banned the burial of their brother, Polyneices. "You can make excuses, but I shall go, heap up a mound for a most philos brother."(Sophocles) She is going to bury her brother even though it is against the law. If she were not a hero she would not have buried her.
Another way Antigone is a hero is that she is not afraid of the consequences, "No, justice will not allow this since you were not willing to do this, and I did not act in common with you."(Sophocles) She says this when Ismene asks Creon to split the punishment between them even though she did not commit the crime. "You, do not die a common death with me. What you did not touch, do try to make your own. I will be enough by dying, I myself."(Sophocles) She is saying this to Ismene to tell her that even though she is going to die that she should not die the same way she did. If she were not a hero she would worry about the consequences.

When I studied Antigone, I didn't define her as a epic hero because in a way, she wasn't as modest. She is more of a main character in Antigone.
But she did die a tragic death.
Which can be another "epic hero" quality.
