There is someone in my life that defines me as a person-I've always been compared to my older sisters, they're both spontaneous, active, loved by many and they both excel in everything they do. They both ran for the position of Student Council President and won, while I ran for the position of Student Council Vice President and lost. What I'm trying to say is I don't possess their qualities, I'd join contests/activities and just end up losing, I'm getting used to it but there's something wrong.
Professors seeing what they can do always expect the same from me, telling me why won't you be like your sisters? Why do your sisters excel and you don't? Different thoughts rush into my mind-saying I know already, stop comparing us! Why do you always compare me to them, we're not the same person! To the point that I end up shedding tears; hating myself; trying to change myself for other people; & being a person whom I am not.
But then one day, everything changed-someone was telling me you've had enough! Stop trying to please other people that you end up hating yourself for it; you are beautiful; stop thinking negative thoughts; I love you just the way you are, no matter what you've done or what you'll do; I'm always right here to guide you through thick or thin.-At that moment I knew that there was someone out there watching me, not only me but the rest of us. That someone who had successfully made me love myself for who I am is no other than God. God defines me. He is my savior. He is the one who taught me how to treat and love myself.
~Please let me know what my mistakes are. :o Thank you. :)
