ESSAY ABOUT Biodiversity

Once, the world was just a flaming ball of rock, floating in the loneliness of space; but it soon bloomed with different lifeforms, filling the emptiness of space. However, due to man's ever-growing population, the habitats that have protected so many creatures for eons are being destroyed. This resulted in a huge impact on biodiversity, one that cannot be ignored. If the damage done to the Earth cannot be stopped, it may bring upon the 6th mass extinction. Therefore, we must take effective and immediate actions and undo our mistakes.

To solve a problem, we must first define it, diagnose the situation and focus on the problem and not its symptoms. There are countless organizations that have been set up to raise awareness and reduce the loss of biodiversity. Nevertheless, their voices are not loud enough to be heard by the general public and a lot of the goals set up weren't able to be achieved.

We all know for a start that social media have become an inevitable influence in our daily lives. Children, teenagers, and adults use them every day. For a change, these organizations should use the funds they have collected to make advertisements that can be distributed through well-known social platforms such as YouTube, Instagram and Facebook. This will certainly be effective as teenagers from most users of the platforms are the ones to be made aware of the goals set up to preserve the Earth and all its remains. Raising awareness in the younger generation is the first step to protecting biological diversity after all.

Not just that, I believe it not only takes a good leader but also someone who is perspicacious to rule a country. That's why when it comes to voting for a leader, we must all be wise, sensible and most importantly, unbiased. Spend some time looking up information about all the candidates. Do they fully recognize the importance of going green? Would they pursue relentless efforts to switch from fossil fuel to clean energy? Choosing a leader is like a game of chess; plan out your next step strategically as there is no going back.

Lastly, we can't always rely on others, so we should all play our different roles to help protect biodiversity. As parents, we should not wait for the educators but ourselves to make known environmental issues we are currently facing to our children. Parents should teach children the means to save our environment so that good habits become second nature. Slowly, the children will develop a love for nature and learn to respect it. After all, children form the backbone of the country. In our daily lives, we should do our part in combating environmental issues as well by reducing our carbon footprint. This must be practised especially in urban area. All it takes is reducing the usage of fossil fuels and it can be easily done by walking or biking instead of driving. Furthermore, we can plant a variety of flowers or build a bee box in our vacant backyard. Bees being pollinators can help plants reproduce and supply food to our planet.

There is still a beacon of hope for Earth in our universe. However, if we choose to be nonchalant our children will be slowly phased out of existence. We can hear the Earth weeping day after day so why are we still doing nothing? Protecting biodiversity cannot be accomplished by just one person; we need to stand together and face it as a family, and only then can we get to see Mother Earth smile again.

There is a definite sense of importance to this writing. Your opening statement was imaginative, but seemingly suddenly lost from one event to another. You went from a flaming ball of rock to the existence of man. There are 12 cataclysmic events that comprise the evolution of the earth. The 13th of which is, according to Neil De Grasse Tyson, is forthcoming. You need to better represent the events in-between that led to the current state of the earth. You need a gradual idea development instead of ideas that jump timelines without clarity.

As for the paragraph about choosing world leaders, you are mistaken in your notion that there is no turning back when you elect a leader who does not believe in green energy. The next elected official can always change environmental policies as set by his predecessor. Therefore, there is no permanency to any environmental decision made by anyone. Remember that Trump pulled America out of energy and environmental agreements and Biden, put America back in. That is the basis of ever evolving government environmental regulations.
