In current era, there are many entertainments we can choose to enjoy. Obviously, movie is among them, and it does have a great popularity. Basically, serious movies and comedies commonly share the biggest part of the movie market share. In essence, both of them can reflect social problems, humanities, and philosophy, the difference is HOW. According to the words" serious" and "comedy", we can identify their own uniqueness. Different strokes for different folks. For me, I prefer to watch an interesting comedy when I am available.
First and foremost, some people think that comedies are just cobbled together by many mismatches. Inducing people to laugh is their aim. Opinions like this above is not that precise. Actually, entertainment is a crucial trait for comedies, but it is not the only Mr. Right. For high quality comedies, the process of watching it will be full of recreation and relax. However, there usually be a turn point, sometimes it will emerge at the end of the movie. For example, I have seen a comedy called A Chinese Odyssey directed by Stephen Zhou. It was extremely pervasive in 1990's. It adopted a mode of smile with tears. In this way, the comedy becomes more like a serious one. Makes it even more shocking.
Furthermore, despite of the serious viewpoints of these comedies, watching a comedy is a very effective means for people to escape from their daily grind of life. After an intense working day, which one would deny an amusing movie, especially enjoy it with you families or friends. With the advanced home theater system, a good comedy will bring you excellent psychological and physiological experience.
Admittedly, in some certain aspects, serious movies are superior to comedies. Serious movies are more rational and, of course, serious. They can excavate some deep thoughts in their own ways. Every year in the Academy Award, serious movies are more preferred than other movies. That makes sense, serious movies are always viewed more thought-provoking by movie critics.
