Directions: Write a Three part themed essay about your flaw.
Man is destined to face challenges for life is not a bed of roses. Obstacles and difficulties are bound to come in the way and no one is ever exempted from these. I have experienced the pinnacle of these obstacles when my heart cried at my grandfather's death, when my parents broke up, and when I suffered a near-death experience when I was 9 years old. It was difficult for me to move on and keep moving forward. I have fallen head-deep into a quicksand of impediments, comedowns and setbacks. For me to rise and to pull myself up, I must overcome my impediments. Overcoming impediments is like a steel pillar being hit by a wrecking ball, although the pillar may be bent by the impact caused by the wrecking ball, the pillar remains firm no matter what, adjusts its stance (bending away from the wrecking ball) to avoid collision and can be repaired to be something better.
In order to overcome setbacks, I must remain firm no matter what, like the steel pillar constantly being hit by the wrecking ball. Life is full of surprises and these surprises do not always come in bright colors. Some may leave knees on the ground, some may remain unshaken. It is important for the pillar to remain firm no matter how much the impact from the wrecking ball is for if it shatters, the structure will fall to dust. I must remain firm like the pillar so that the bright future which I carry on my shoulders would not shatter to dust.
When a wrecking ball tries to demolish a structure, its main target is to take down the pillars that uphold it. If a wrecking ball hits a steel pillar with force, the pillar will bend accordingly to where the ball would hit, but the pillar won't crumple to the ground. It will bend after the impact in such a way that it avoids the wrecking ball from hitting it further. Overcoming obstacles entails I getting hit by my setbacks, but not letting it hit me more than once. Like the pillar bending away, I must refuse to be overwhelmed by my setbacks for my to be constantly hit by it.
When we are hit by something, we are never the same as before. When the steel pillar is hit by something massive as the wrecking ball, it will never be perfectly standing straight. When people experience setbacks, they are not the same person as if nothing had happened. The pillar may need some repairs so that it can withstand force coming from other destructing force that could make it fall. When repaired, the pillar will look as new and will be better in the future. This I mirror for myself. In order for me to overcome obstacles, I must be ready to be repaired for something better. With this, I will become a better and stronger person who is unafraid of the setbacks that can hold me back.
"We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." -Martin Luther King, Jr
Reflecting on what Martin Luther King had said, he stresses that every person might experience disappointment and held back by setbacks but he also stresses that hope must be infinite. People may be overwhelmed by setbacks but it must be will power of the person not to succumb to these setbacks and to remain firm.
