Development of content of the web in a higher level, basically, is target for the end user. Thus, computer sceintists and web designers came up with solutions which revolve around the human psychology and brain structure. the layout mechanisms, colours, pictures and natural ratios are always used in a very technical but a practical way so that people can relate themselves to the web easily. thus, web designers use human psychology and brain structure as tools to gather more users.
The layout mechanisms of a website are designed for both interactivity and viewing purposes. web designers tend to apply techniques of colour psychology and pictures for a layout which is dedicated for interactivity. light colours and high contrast are used when a designer needs the attention for a particular object in a web site. for example, web sites for jewellery. here, the designer has to make sure that users would directly give their attention for the picture and information of the jewellery not other data in the web page such as advertisements. designers use bright colours and unfamiliar or different objects when they need an instant attention from a user. web advertisements have those qualities mentioned above. people always try to avoid unnecessary facts from their lives. same thing happens, when a user logs in to a web page. so, the designer has a one and only chance to grab the glance of a user. which is why, designers tend to use bright colours for advertisements. also, there a few colours which designers consider as important when necessary but dangerous when used in the wrong situation. Black for instance,is considered to be the colour of protest. there is a high possible chance that a user would avoid the web page, if Black used as the main colour in that page. Grey is another example. it does not generate feelings for a human being. so, there is a likely chance that the designer would avoid Grey , if he/she is creating a web page which require feelings.
Similarly, web designers give their concentration to the fullest while choosing photographs and pictures for a web site. a photo of a woman in a Black dress who is carrying a candle, on her way to a cemetery would not be a suitable photograph for a web site of a hospital. the hospital is a place where most of the people seek feelings of hope and faith not despair and disdain.
Comfortable readability is a very important fact for a web site. here, fonts play a vital role. designers mainly use, Serif-for highlighting and Sans Serif-for high readability. they hardly use Times New Roman as the main style of the fonts for a website such as BBCNews.com where people read very long articles. Designers inclined to use natural ratios as well. either the Golden ratio(1.6) or 1.44 is always used while creating spaces between two font characters and area of a page. this technique is also used for high readability purposes.
Web designers also use the method of highlighting and scanning. people like to read contents which they think are interesting. so, designers use highlighted topics, fonts. method of scanning is also used by many web designers. people normally used to read the first few sentences of a page. then they start reading from here and there which leaves many sentences unread by the user. this process is called scanning. so, designers try to squeeze a highlighted topic as soon as, according to their calculations, that the user is going to skip a sentence.
By using the techniques of human psychology and brain structure, web designers have successfully reached millions of people all around the world. web designers try to make users very comfortable by giving the powers of high readability, scanning and subtly by using the colour psychology and pictures. in exchange, developers and designers of the web gain the attention of people which is their main goal, indeed.
thank you...
