Trying to write an introduction and conclusion paragraph
I am doing a compare and contrast essay on homeschooling versus public schooling and I am having difficulty writing my introduction and conclusion paragraphs. Here is my thesis statement, Although both can provide a good quality education to its students, there are many differences between home school and public school. I am just doing the outline portion right now, but my instructor wants both of these paragraphs to be included. Can anyone please give me some advice?
Thank you!
Although both can provide a good quality education to itstheir students, there are many differences between home school and public school.
Well.... in the introduction, you introduce the two concepts; a basic outline of what they are. Then briefly highlight their differing characteristics that you are going to discuss one by one in the forthcoming body paras.
Have you identified their positives and negatives seperately?
You can sum up everything with a note to highlight these positives and negatives of each system in your conclusion :)
Can the thesis statement be the first sentence or does it need to be the last sentence in the introduction?
Okay so here is what I have come up with for an introduction. Please feel free to make corrections or give advice as to what would sound better.
Although both can provide a good quality education to their students, there are many differences between home school and public school. These differences can either hinder or improve a child's way of learning and developing. If children find themselves to be distracted while being in a classroom with their peers then home schooling may be the right answer. If children find that they get easily side tracked while attempting to work alone then public schooling may be the right answer.
In my opinion your conclusion is explaining a point itself. I don't know what have you said in the body. but be carefull not to point out a new idea in conclusion. just generally sum it up
Your thesis statement sounds too generalized. A thesis should always be specific. However, it shouldn't be long either. Also, add a word after "both". That way the reader will know what you're talking about.
