Hello,

I would really appreciate your help with my motivation letter for the International Master's in Economics at VU University Amsterdam. Please review it and suggests any improvements, it would be very helpful.

Thank you very much!!!

Dear Sir or Madam,
I appreciate this opportunity to provide further information in support of my application for the International Master's in Economics at VU University Amsterdam for one-year programme 2011-2012.

The goal of my education is to do research in the field and to teach at a university. To study economics precisely is what I want and I believe that further education at VU University Amsterdam would satisfy me and give me needed knowledge.

After I graduated from high school having learned mathematics and basics of social science, the next logical step for me was to apply for bachelors in economics. My interest has gradually evolved into an aspiration and a pursuit for a career in this field during my undergraduate studies. I received bachelor's degree in Economics in summer 2010 and I applied for continuing two-year programme Economics and Economic Analysis with minor in Economics and Law at the University of Economics in Prague

Regarding to my academic performance at the university, I can honestly say that I am one of the most active students compared to others. I finished my bachelors ranked with average grade in top quartile of all under graduating students at the faculty. I have attended many extra lectures of visiting professors and other optimal seminars arranged by university or another organization. The attraction in economics leads me to apply for a partial-job at the university. Since last year of my bachelor's education, I have a great opportunity to work as the student assistant at the Department of Institutional Economics, which is giving me beneficial experience and extra education. My summer holidays have been filled in with improving my English abroad or with work as the trainee in economics departments in important public institutions.

I have always dreamed about studding abroad and your university is more that perfect to make my dreams real. I love Economics and during my studies I have developed deep interest in one of its fields, in Development Economics. I found out that economics represents for me a question why are some nations so rich and others so poor. Looking for the answer is at once challenging and motivating and I believe that further education at your university would be more that beneficial for me. Your programme Economics with the specialization in Development Economics suits me perfectly. It combines my interest in the field with very needful general background, what impressed me.

Particularly, my personal focus is on history of development, foreign aid and general problems of development with respect to microeconomic and institutions. I want to combine my knowledge in theory of Economics with my interest in this field. Through studding Economics as part of your programme and interaction with other students and academics about the topics, I am to become well trained in the field and prepared for my future career. I see in studying your programme a great opportunity to improve myself and get convenient education for my future career in the area of development issues.

As far as I know, your master's programme offers the excellent teaching facilities and staff and I am attracted by seriousness and demandingness of your courses as well as by the opportunity to study under prominent professors and researchers. I also value that, as a fact, the education in Economics at VU University Amsterdam does not stop with theory and emphasizes also the necessity of own research in the area.

To study Economics at VU University Amsterdam is a great opportunity to improve not only my knowledge, but also myself as an individual. Having a chance to learn in an environment with others as interested in the subject as I am, it would lead to meaningful exchange of ideas from which would benefit all involved. I have always tried to be the best and with certainty the academic environment at VU University Amsterdam would improve my education and allow me to explore economics at deeper level. Moreover, I believe that student life in Nederland would give me new experiences to my future life. Thank you for your time and consideration.

studding or studying?

Your English is very good.

I am would lead?!!! What does it mean?

All in all, your SOP letter is so usual and does not contain anything special. Some of your sentences will not help you:
I am one of the most active students compared to others...while you did not mention to your GPA or possible publication.
