Please provide your valuable feedback, I'd really appreciate it. I am applying to the same program in multiple colleges so I will modify corresponding content for each college.
PERSONAL ESSAY
Observing my father work as a medical physician for my entire life, I believe he creates healthy meaningful and best experiences for people. The course of his communication with people to understand them, explain to them and basically help them really stirred me. I always had to bet against my parents' wishes to involve myself in art classes since my childhood days. I love how pictures are conceived from the human mind to the paper or screen. My imagination tied up with computers when I was sitting in my first computer lab class in middle school. I was amazed at computers functioning with a small piece of information. After high school graduation, even though failing to breeze into field of medicine I joined for summer computer classes with continuous exhilaration from my father.
Positively, I chose computer engineering for my undergraduate studies. During the first year of my college, as the class representative I coordinated various cultural activities. I won accolades by attending inter-college and intra-college paper presentations, activities, workshops. Productive opportunities like such helped me to interact with mindsets of diverse backgrounds in engineering. I received my first job offer from Wipro Technologies Ltd on campus for the role of software Engineer in my pre-final year. For my final year project work, I studied on the research topic 'Organization of Documents using Tree View Self Organizing Map' along with my team, provided by our graduate professor Dr. B.Mahalakshmi. Our work essentially focused on pre-processing of data using Java where the non-plain text documents in input data have to be parsed into plain text, later some feature terms are chosen and extracted to represent the documents in a phase called indexing. The frequency of occurrence of each word from each document is recorded in a words-documents matrix using MATLAB.
Following graduation, I successfully completed my 3-month internship technology training program at Wipro where we studied practical development of web applications using Java, DBMS, SQL. In my first year of joining as a full-fledged Software Engineer, I received the 'Best Rookie of the Year' award for my work in resolving ghost pattern in Walmart Client transaction logs.
During my last year in Wipro, I advanced upon 'User Interface' while supporting a Responsive Web Design project for all devices as a functionality developer. Little did I knew, there is whole new world of 'User Experience Design' and I needed to learn more about creating user experiences for digital interfaces professionally. In an exceedingly design driven world, I strongly believe that studying about client needs is the key to develop valuable information systems or products.
What are your hopes and dreams as a designer and future leader?
In order to actualize my newly found discovery, I decided to jumpstart my learning curve with enrolling in BITS Pilani's PG Certification Program in 'Big Data Engineering' which is a one-year online program profoundly focusing on the foundations, different platforms, processing, analytics of big data, concluding with a capstone project. The program is loaded with prestigious faculties such as Sundar S. Balasubramaniam and expertise of some top industry experts along with tons of practical problems and industry applications. I started self-learning about the industrial tools involved in Web Design like HTML, CSS, Illustrator, Photoshop etc. alongside doing personal projects and securing a graphic design Internship for 'CollCom' a youth driven non-profit students' community organization by Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi.
Consequently, this has influenced me to learn about the core UX process of taking an idea from paper to a tested and a usable product, the approach and methods followed behind researching people's psychology. As a future Product Designer, I hope to engage with other designers and work together towards implementing simple and effective design solutions for difficult problems. Ultimately, helping people who are not satisfied with designs and make lives easier.
